Experts from the Institute for Automotive Market Research analyzed statistics on semi-trailer registrations in Ukraine and identified the most popular types and brands in three main segments: used imports, domestic resales, and new registrations.
Semi-trailer market dynamics
In October 2025, Ukrainian carriers purchased a total of 1,330 new and used semi-trailers. This is 4.7% more than in September this year, but 18.8% less than in October 2024.
The largest share was accounted for by domestic resales — 59.8% (795 units), followed by imports of used ones, 31% (412 units). New imported semi-trailers accounted for 7.7% (103 units), and another 1.5% (20 units) were vehicles manufactured in Ukraine.
By individual subsegments, the dynamics of semi-trailer trades looks like this:
- Domestic resales: −5.1% MM, −16.0% YY
- Used imports: +16.1% MM, −26.6% YY
- New imports: +60.9% MM, −3.7% YY
- Made in Ukraine: +53.8% MM, −16.7% YY
The most popular semi-trailers on the domestic market
The most popular category here was dump trucks, with demand also for on-board tilt versions and tankers.
The situation in the domestic market of used semi-trailers is stable — here, as in the tractor segment, the "German three" dominate. The undisputed leader by a huge margin remains Schmitz Cargobull, which is chosen more often than its two closest competitors combined. For the second place, there is a tight fight between Krone and Kögel, where the difference is literally one deal.
However, the most interesting thing is happening outside the podium. Polish manufacturers Wielton and Bodex have firmly established themselves here, becoming a reasonable alternative to premium brands, offering decent quality for reasonable money. It is also worth noting the presence in the Top 10 of the Ukrainian manufacturer VARZ and the Turkish Oztreyler, which indicates a gradual shift in the focus of carriers towards more affordable solutions for performing specific transport tasks, where the brand plays a smaller role than functionality.
The most popular used semi-trailers imported from abroad
Among the "freshly imported" semi-trailers, the most popular were the tented versions, and refrigerated vans and dump trucks were also actively imported.

Here, among the imported ones, the presence of Schmitz Cargobull is felt even more acutely — the brand occupies the lionʼs share of the market. Krone and Kögel act more like catch-ups here, satisfying the demand of those looking for specific models or a slightly lower price.

The rest of the list clearly indicates the specifics of imports: the business is transporting from abroad not just a "tent", but specialized equipment that is difficult to find in good condition in Ukraine. The high position of Lohr hints at the activation of the car carrier market, and the presence of the Magyar, Benalu, Stas and Carnehl brands indicates a stable demand for high-quality European tankers and dump trucks (often aluminum grain trucks), which are necessary for farmers and fuel carriers.
Most popular new semi-trailers
In this group, dump trucks are the most popular type. Refrigerated vans are the second most popular, and tented variants are in third place.
The market for new semi-trailers shows the most patriotic sentiments. Although the first place traditionally belongs to Schmitz Cargobull, the second place was shared between the Belgian Van Hool and the Ukrainian manufacturer Everlast. The success of the latter confirms that domestic tankers and special equipment are able to compete on equal terms with Western counterparts.
Another positive sign is the presence of the Ukrainian brand TAD, known for its trawls for transporting oversized cargo, in the top ten. Overall, the top of new semi-trailers looks like a mix of proven European classics ( Krone, Kögel ) and the strengthening of the positions of Polish ( Bodex, Wielton, Mega ) and local manufacturers, offering equipment that is maximally adapted to Ukrainian realities.
"October brought very interesting dynamics to the semi-trailer market," says Stanislav Buchatsky, an expert on the car market, commenting on the situation.
"We see a slight decline in domestic resales (-5.1%), which, against the background of a significant increase in imports (+16.1% for used and +60.9% for new), indicates an important trend: businesses have stopped simply "hanging out" old equipment among themselves. Carriers have begun to actively invest in fleet renewal, importing fresh semi-trailers from Europe or purchasing completely new ones.
The surge in the "Made in Ukraine" segment (+53.8% per month) is particularly pleasing. This means that our manufacturers (such as Everlast, VARZ, TAD) are winning the competition not only with price, but also with speed of order fulfillment and service, which is extremely important for business now."
