What light commercial equipment was purchased in February 2026? Rating of new and used models

The segment of light commercial vehicles (LCV) weighing up to 3,500 kg showed a gradual change in the priorities of Ukrainian business in February 2026. Despite the general stagnation in the used transport segments, the sector of new imported cars demonstrates steady growth, which indicates a course for the renewal of corporate fleets.

Market volumes and registration dynamics

In February 2026, the total volume of transactions in the LCV segment amounted to over 3,000 units. The main share was formed by domestic resales, where 1,757 transactions were recorded. However, this indicator showed negative dynamics: a decrease of 7.1% compared to January and 30.6% compared to February last year. The segment of imports of used light trucks also showed a decrease — 808 units were registered, which is 5.7% less than the previous month and 10.5% less than the same period in 2025.

The positive exception was the import of new commercial vehicles. The number of registrations amounted to 467 units, which reflects a growth of 6.1% month-on-month (MM) and a significant increase of 24.5% year-on-year (YY). At the same time, the sector of new domestically produced cars (including large-unit assembly) recorded only 32 registrations, which corresponds to a decrease of 30.4% compared to January and 8.6% compared to February 2025. In total, the market of new LCVs in February amounted to 499 units.

Internal Market: Structure and Leaders

The domestic resale market is dominated by classic vans, pickups, and cargo-passenger modifications. The demand structure confirms buyersʼ orientation towards time-tested solutions for small and medium-sized businesses.

The undisputed leader remains the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, which maintains the status of the main tool for commercial transportation. It is competed by the Renault Master, which is gradually strengthening its position due to the more recent years of production. The list of the most popular models also includes Ford Transit and Volkswagen Transporter. GAZ Gazelle cars continue to play a prominent role in the lower price segment, which is explained by the need for maximum budget mobility and the presence of a significant outdated fleet that has not yet exhausted its operational resource. Lower positions in the ranking are occupied by Renault Kangoo, Renault Trafic, Volkswagen Crafter, as well as compact solutions such as Fiat Doblo and Mercedes-Benz Vito.

Import of used LCVs: Segment characteristics

In the segment of used car imports from abroad, the emphasis is shifting to maximum practicality. The most popular types remain vans, specialized refrigerated vans and flatbed trucks that meet the needs of "last mile" logistics.

The leader of the "drive" is the Renault Master, which is ahead of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter due to a more favorable price-to-carrying capacity ratio for recent models. Mid-size solutions, such as the Renault Trafic and Opel Movano, are also actively imported. Products from the Volkswagen concern (Crafter and Transporter) are stably popular. The top ten leaders in used car imports are the compact Renault Kangoo, Mercedes-Benz Vito, and the Ford Transit line, including the Custom modification.

The new LCV market is showing a transformation towards versatility. The priority body types here are vans and pickups, which are increasingly performing the functions of corporate transport in difficult operating conditions.

The most popular new model in February was the Toyota Hilux, highlighting the high demand for reliable frame pickups. The second position is occupied by the Renault Express, which has become the main choice in the class of compact city vans. High interest remains in the Mitsubishi L 200 and products of the French brands — Peugeot Boxer and Partner. The top 10 also includes the KG Mobility Musso Grand, Renault Trafic and Toyota Proace. The list is closed by the Fiat Ducato and Opel Movano, which are chosen mainly for large logistics tasks.

Conclusions

February figures indicate the professionalization of the LCV market. The business is gradually abandoning domestic resales of the old fleet in favor of importing new cars. This indicates long-term cost planning, where fuel efficiency and warranty support are given priority. The used car market remains inertial, held back by traditional leaders, but the development vector is clearly aimed at updating the fleet with modern commercial solutions.
