Experts from the Institute of Auto Market Research analyzed vehicle registration statistics in Ukraine and identified the most popular types and models in three segments of trucks weighing over 3.5 tons (except for tractor units) : used imports, domestic resales, and purchases of new cars, including those converted in Ukraine.
Truck market dynamics
The market for trucks with a gross vehicle weight of over 3.5 tons in January 2026 demonstrated the expected seasonal slippage in indicators compared to December, but maintained positive annual trends for individual segments. In total , 1,075 deals were concluded in the domestic market in the first month of the year, which is 12.5% less than the December figure, but 26.6% higher than the result of January 2025.
The used equipment import segment amounted to 175 units, demonstrating a significant drop compared to December ( -37.9% ) and a slight decrease compared to last year ( -6.9% ).
Sales of new trucks amounted to 211 units, where the lionʼs share — 169 vehicles — was provided by Ukrainian manufacturers, while net imports of new cars amounted to only 42 units. It is noteworthy that imports of new equipment fell by almost 66% compared to last year, while domestic production increased by 17.4% YY.

Top 10 trucks in the domestic market
The secondary market of Ukraine continues to be dominated by construction- and local logistics-oriented equipment. The most popular body types remain dump trucks, vans, and flatbed trucks.
The leader in terms of the number of deals remains the veteran of the roads ZiL 130, followed by the GAZ 3307-09 models. Despite its age, this equipment is still in demand due to its low initial price and maintainability in field conditions. The European segment is represented by the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (in heavy versions), T1/T2 and Atego families, as well as Iveco Daily. The Chinese auto industry has established itself in the domestic market with the Sinotruk ZZ model (heavy dump trucks), and the segment of heavy Soviet heritage is closed by KamAZ 5511, 5320 and GAZ 53.
Top 10 imported trucks with mileage
Ukraine is supplied mainly with specialized transport for urban and interregional transportation. In terms of types, the greatest demand was for vans with a tail lift, conventional vans and refrigerators.
The ranking is dominated by German brands. The first place goes to the Mercedes-Benz Atego, followed by the heavy version of the Sprinter. The MAN brand is strongly represented by the TGL, TGX and TGM models. Also in the top ten are Iveco Daily, Scania R-series, Mercedes-Benz Actros and DAF XF.
An interesting statistical anomaly is the appearance of the Tesla Cybertruck (6 units) in this list. Due to its large gross weight (over 3.5 tons), this pickup truck legally falls into the category of trucks, although it is actually used as a private passenger vehicle (it is important that after the end of martial law, a "C1" category in the driverʼs license will be required to drive this pickup truck).
Top 10 new trucks
The market for new cars over 3.5 tons consists almost entirely of special equipment: dump trucks, vans and garbage trucks. A feature of the segment is the dominance of Ukrainian companies that mount special equipment on imported or domestic chassis.
- ASPM Lifting Mechanisms: Market leader specializing in auto-hydraulic lifts (towers).
- Reform (model 0201022G): Product of the Reform company, which usually manufactures armored collection vehicles or specialized vans.
- AA 09089: Municipal equipment from the Ukrainian "Avto-Ant".
- InterCargoTruck (F15121): Isothermal and industrial vans.
- ZSO (FUA-N2-H10): Products of the "Special Equipment Plant", specialized vans on various types of chassis.
Also in the Top 10 are large foreign brands with ready-made solutions: Daewoo Novus (often with cranes), Renault K (heavy dump trucks), Scania P-series, MAN TGS and SBM municipal vehicles.
Expertʼs comment
Stanislav Buchatsky, co-founder of the Institute for Car Market Research:
"The January truck market was clearly divided into two worlds. On the one hand, the domestic market, where the old fleet in the form of ZiLs and GAZs still takes care of small construction and farming. On the other, the market for new equipment, which has become as highly specialized as possible. Pay attention: net imports of new trucks have dropped by almost 66%. This happened because businesses stopped buying universal machines "from the warehouse". Now they are buying a specific engineering solution: a truck-mounted crane from ASPM, an armored car from Reform, or a garbage truck from SBM. Ukrainian enterprises have learned to create a quality product, and statistics confirm this — 169 Ukrainian special vehicles against 42 imported ones. The truck market is becoming a service market: now they sell not tonnage, but function."
