Before summing up the results of the past year, letʼs briefly review the results of December 2025 in the segment of first registrations of used cars.
Thus, in December 2025, 41.7 thousand used passenger cars imported from abroad were submitted for first registration. This figure is 75.3% higher than the results of November last year, and 166.3% higher than the volumes of the same period in 2024.
The diagram shows import volumes marked by orange sections of columns. Since the beginning of the year, import volumes have been gradually increasing: from 14.5 thousand cars in January to almost 42 thousand now. The last time such volumes of “freshly imported” cars could be seen was in 2022, during the temporary “zero customs clearance”. Now this activity is caused by the “race for electric cars”, because VAT has been introduced on their import from January 1.

As for the annual results, in numbers they look like this: the total replenishment of the fleet amounted to 278,628 used cars that arrived from abroad and were registered for the first time. This is 22% more than in 2024.

The import rating is headed by the unchanging leader — Volkswagen, which offers the widest choice: from budget options to premium crossovers, as well as minivans and vans, some of which have the category "passenger" or "passenger" in their SPR. Audi is in second place, which indicates the high demand of Ukrainians for comfort and status.
The main event of the year was Teslaʼs entry into the top three. The purely electric brand bypassed many traditional competitors, becoming a symbol of the "green" hype of 2025. The top five is closed by Nissan and Renault, which hold their positions thanks to a combination of popular electric cars and practical diesel cars from Europe. The rest of the list — BMW, Hyundai, Ford, KIA and Skoda — confirms that Ukrainians choose a time-tested reputation.
In the model ranking, the Volkswagen Golf retained the title of the most popular "freshly driven" car, but its gap with competitors became minimal (and not without the help of the e-Golf). The main rival was the Tesla Model Y, which just missed out on first place. Together with the Model 3, which is also among the leaders, American electric cars showed a phenomenal result.
The Skoda Octavia remains a stable choice for pragmatists, while the Nissan Leaf is still the most affordable entry ticket to the world of electric mobility. The remaining positions are confidently occupied by crossovers: Volkswagen Tiguan, Audi Q5, Nissan Rogue and KIA Niro. They are gradually pushing out classic sedans such as the Volkswagen Passat, which this year ended up in the second half of the rating.
As for premium models, last year the Ukrainian car fleet was replenished with the following cars of this category: 1265 Porsche, 97 Maserati, 21 Lamborghini, 17 Rolls-Royce and the same number of Bentleys, 8 Ferraris, 6 Aston Martins and 1 McLaren.
Stanislav Buchatsky, head of the Institute for Car Market Research, comments :
"The December figures are impressive — almost 42 thousand cars. We saw this only in 2022, during the "zero customs clearance" era. But the reason is simple: people are counting money. Everyone knew that VAT on electric cars would be refunded from January 1, so they tried to buy them cheaper.
That is why Tesla is in the top three. It is not so much about ecology, but about profit. In general, we have a 22% increase in imports over the year, but we must understand that a significant part of these cars was purchased "in advance". We have actually taken away part of the sales in 2026, so now the warehouses are full, and there will be no such excitement in the coming months.
