Experts from the Institute of Auto Market Research analyzed vehicle registration statistics in Ukraine and identified the most popular models in three segments of trucks weighing over 3.5 tons (except for tractor units) : used imports, domestic resales, and purchases of new cars, including those converted in Ukraine.
Truck market dynamics
The market volume of trucks with a gross weight of over 3,500 kg as of September 2025 amounted to 1,454 units. Compared to August of the same year, this is 2.4% less, and also 27.9% less compared to the results of September 2024. Monthly volumes are shown in the diagram.
The structure of this segment is as follows: 71.7% (1043 units) — domestic resales, 15.1% (219 units) — imports of used trucks; 3.9% (56 units) — imports of new trucks, 9.4% (136 units) — sales of trucks manufactured (or converted in the factory) in Ukraine. The total share of new vehicles in this group was 13.2%.

The dynamics by individual subsegments, the shares of which were just given, are as follows:
- Domestic resales: −6.2% MM, −32.9% YY
- Used imports: +21.0% MM, +7.9% YY
- New imports: −21.1% MM, −29.1% YY
- Made in Ukraine: +7.9% MM, −25.3% YY
Top 10 trucks in the domestic market
The most popular type in this subsegment was dump trucks, with stable demand for vans and flatbed versions.
The situation with the models is consistently contrasting: on the one hand, modern cars of European brands, on the other, equipment from Soviet times, which, despite their age, is still in circulation. The leader this time is the ZiL-130 family with all its derivative versions. The second on the list is the GAZ-3307(08, 09) — a typical example of the "legacy of the Union", which is still trying to stay in service. The third position went to trucks on the T1/T2 chassis from Mercedes-Benz, the production of which was discontinued back in 1995-96.
It is worth noting that this segment is the oldest in the Ukrainian car market — the average age of trucks in the 3500+kg group was 24 years.

Top 10 imported trucks with mileage
Most often, the Ukrainian fleet last month was replenished with tail lift vans, regular vans, and container trucks.

In the segment of heavy and medium-duty truck imports, this time the top three are clearly visible: Mercedes-Benz Atego, followed by Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, and on the third line is MAN TGL. For obvious reasons, i.e. the lack of supply abroad with Soviet-made vehicles, our fleet is being replenished with used trucks of European brands.
The average age of newly arrived trucks with a gross weight of over 3.5 tons was 9.2 years.

Top 10 new trucks
In this subsegment, the greatest demand was for dump trucks, refrigerated vans, and tail lift vans.
Among the new trucks registered last month, brands unfamiliar to the general public dominate — mostly these are chassis of foreign origin, which after retrofitting in Ukraine receive completely different names. More precisely — indices with a different set of symbols. This time the first place goes to a van with a tail lift from Spetskomservis (SKS) based on the MAN TGL. Next on the list are Scania P-series, and Daewoo Novus — dump trucks, a batch of which was purchased in Khmelnytskyi.
