According to the Polish Border Guard, a protest action by Polish carriers may begin today (May 12, 2025) at the Dorohusk checkpoint (on the Ukrainian side — Yagodyn), the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reports.
In the event of a blockade, truck traffic will be extremely slow — only one vehicle per hour in each direction. The exception is humanitarian cargo and passenger buses, which will be allowed to pass without restrictions.

The campaign is expected to last up to four months. Currently, traffic on the Yagodyn-Dorohusk route is operating as normal, but drivers should be aware of the risks of delays.
This could significantly affect the delivery of cars by car carriers from European ports (in particular, cars imported from the USA), as well as the supply of cars purchased directly in Europe. Car market participants should closely monitor updates and consider alternative logistics routes.
More details
As for the reasons for starting the action, they are not very homogeneous, and have a certain political context. Here are the demands put forward by the KOPiPT organization , which coordinates this protest:
- Restoration of the permit system for Ukrainian carriers, which was abolished by the EU after the start of the war;
- Exclusion of empty trucks from the EU from the electronic queue at the Ukrainian border ;
- Reduction of payment terms for transportation services;
- Strengthening control over compliance with transport legislation, in particular the EU mobility package
- Financial compensation from the EU for Polish transport companies
- Restriction of access of Ukrainian firms to the EU internal market due to price dumping.
However, in addition to these theses, there are also statements by KOPiPT representatives that reveal the ideological content of the protest:
"The protest is a manifesto against Brussels and its omnipotence, against the loss of sovereignty. We stand against the interests of the Brussels and Kyiv oligarchy and want to return the controllability of the Polish state." KOPiPT — FB.
Such formulations indicate a transition of the protest from a purely economic plane to a political one, which may complicate dialogue at the government level.
