What light commercial equipment was purchased in Q1 2025? Top new and used models

LCVs (light commercial vehicles) offer a number of advantages that make them practical for both business and everyday use. These vehicles are economical, providing better fuel efficiency than larger trucks, which helps reduce operating costs. Their compact dimensions make it easy to navigate in urban traffic and maneuver in densely built-up areas. At the same time, LCVs have sufficient carrying capacity to transport goods, making them ideal for small and medium-sized businesses. Cargo-passenger modifications add versatility, as they are suitable for both commercial purposes and personal use.

Specialists of the Institute of Car Market Research have determined the dynamics of trade in this segment, as well as the most popular types and models for each of the groups. Letʼs start with the total trading volumes. During the first three months of 2025, a total of 9.7 thousand cars of the LCV group were purchased. Compared to the 1st quarter of 2024, this is a significant 40.5% less. Here are the dynamics by subsegments (Q1-2025 to Q1-2024):

  • Domestic resales: −52.2%
  • Import of used: ±0%
  • Imports of new: −25.5%
  • Made in Ukraine: −12.3%
LCV Market Dynamics, 2024-2025

The trend of gradual and significant decline in trading volumes in the light commercial vehicle segment, which has been present since the summer of last year, changed to a slight increase in trading rates at the end of the first quarter. However, even so, it is significantly lower than the average volumes of last year or earlier.

The segment structure is as follows: the largest share, 58.3% — in domestic resales; 28.5% were imported used light trucks, 12.2% — new imported, 1.0% — produced or re-equipped in Ukraine. The total share of new cars — 31.2%. Based on the share of each of the subsegments, we will consider them in more detail in the same order.
