The import of passenger cars slowed down somewhat. What did you manage to "drive" in June?
Experts of the Institute of Car Market Research analyzed the statistics of the first registrations of passenger cars and identified the Top 20 most popular models that were "imported" from abroad in June 2024.
In June 2024 , 18,700 used cars imported from abroad were registered for the first time, 1,300 cars less than in May. In contrast to the domestic market, there were no significant jumps or declines in the "servitude" segment — no more than natural volume fluctuations within the usual limits. In particular, this indicator is 3.4% higher than in June 2023, and 6.5% lower than a month earlier.
The most popular brands of imported cars with mileage
As in the domestic resale segment, the rating of "freshly driven" used cars in June was traditionally led by the Volkswagen brand, and once again with a clear margin from rivals in terms of quantity and market share. 2.8 thousand cars with the VW badge were registered, which was 15.2% of the total number.
Second place continues to be held by Audi, with the result of 1.7 thousand first registrations and a share of 9.2%. In third place is Nissan (7.6%, 1.4 thousand), followed by Renault with a result of 1.2 thousand and a share of 6.2%. The fifth place this time belongs to BMW, which pushed one step below Ford, and received a result of 6.2% in the segment and 1.2 thousand cars.

The most popular models of used cars from abroad
Volkswagen Golf remained the leader of "freshly driven" used cars. In June , 887 of these were brought. The presence of an electric version of the e-Golf, which we take into account in the total number, as it differs only in the type of power plant, and according to this parameter, the models in the ratings are not divided, helps it to hold the primacy.
In second place is Skoda Octavia (580 units), in third place is Volkswagen Tiguan (528 units), which once again improved its place in the ranking, and even displaced the next participant, who was the absolute champion in this ranking for a long time. The fourth on the list is Voklswagen Passat, which was "driven" and submitted for the first registration in the number of 496 cars.
Rounding out the top five "freshly driven" passenger cars is the Audi Q5 with a total of 440 crossovers.
In June Top 20, as in several previous months, there are three electric cars: Nissan Leaf, Tesla Model 3 and another Tesla — Model Y. In addition to them, electric Volkswagen e-Golfs, which added 205 vehicles to our fleet, are included in the total. We can also mention the electric Ford Focus, but only 6 of them arrived, so with such a number it does not have a significant impact on the market and the positioning of the mentioned model in the ratings. The import of electric cars is facilitated by the "zero" rate of customs clearance and the absence of a fee to the Pension Fund upon first registration, but prevents interruptions in the supply of electricity.

It should be taken into account that between customs clearance and the first registration, which is actually accounted for in this review, a certain amount of time elapses — from several days to several months (if, for example, a car from the USA needs repair). Therefore, processing the first registrations, we see the results of imports with a certain delay, especially regarding cars from the countries of America, China or Korea.
About electric trucks, which recently received benefits in the form of VAT cancellation on them. So far, these changes in import rules have not had much of an impact on their import volumes. In June, 80 units arrived, slightly more than in previous months, but only by a few units, so there is no reason to talk about a sharp increase in the volume of "enforcement" of electric trucks.
