Experts of the Auto Market Research Institute analyzed vehicle registration statistics in Ukraine in April and identified the 20 most popular models of small commercial vehicles in three segments: used import, domestic resale, and new car purchases.
LCV market dynamics
In April, Ukrainians purchased a total of 7,500 light commercial vehicles with a total weight of up to 3.5 tons. Which is 54.9% more than in the same period last year, and also 31.3% more than in March-2024. At the same time, it is worth noting that the increase in statistical indicators is not entirely related to the actual increase in the volume of trades — rather, we see the reaction of motorists to the new laws on mobilization, which provide for the potential seizure of vehicles for defense purposes in the event that the individual owner has more one TK in possession. Read more about this atypical phenomenon for the market in a separate review.
The majority of small commercial cars were usually purchased on the domestic market — 6,000 (80.9%). At the same time, about 40% of this volume is probably not actual sales, but re-registration of cars to family members or relatives.
939 used cars belonging to the LCV group (12.6%) were brought from abroad.
490 new imported LCVs were registered, of which 33 were converted Ukrainian enterprises from imported chassis or machine sets. Overall, new LCV sales accounted for 6.5% of the total number of small commercial vehicles purchased.
The most popular LCVs in the domestic market
The greatest demand on the domestic market remains for used vans (4.2 thousand units). Other types are in the minority, including low-tonnage vans (361 units), cargo-passenger units (232 units), flatbed (209 units), and flatbed awnings (206 units).
Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (1,013 units) has held the unchanging leadership in the domestic market for many years in a row. Since 1995, when the "Sprinter" appeared on the market replacing the "beads" of the T1 series, Ukrainian carriers have preferred this rather versatile and durable (we will leave aside the question of the body) car. On our roads, it can be found in a variety of roles — from a cargo van to a city "router" or even a tourist minibus.
