Sales of electric cars decreased somewhat in November. Top 20 models

Auto stats

Experts of the Institute of Car Market Research analyzed the statistics of registrations of "electric cars" in Ukraine during November and identified the top models in three segments: import of used cars, domestic resale and purchase of new cars.

Dynamics of the electric car market

In November, Ukrainians bought more than 2,200 new and used electric cars. This is +33% more than in November last year and -12.6% less than in October-2022. In other words, sales of electric cars are decreasing for the fourth month in a row, after the peak in July. However, considering Russiaʼs terrorist attacks on Ukrainian critical infrastructure and problems with electricity supply last month, such indicators can be considered even good, say the Institute of Auto Market Research. After all, despite all the risks, albeit in smaller quantities, Ukrainians continue to buy electric cars.

Dynamics of sales of electric cars in Ukraine, November 2021 — November 2022

The majority of electric cars in October ( 55.5%, 1194 units) were brought used from abroad. Since the fleet of electric cars in Ukraine is only developing, most of these cars are imported from abroad. Due to rather low purchasing power, Ukrainians choose used cars because of their lower cost. An additional bonus of electric cars is their free customs clearance.

In the domestic market, 32% of the total number of sold cars with an electric motor (688 units) were purchased.

On the other hand, the share of sales of new electric cars is growing for the fourth month in a row: in October, the indicator was fixed at the level of 11.5% (282 units) of the total number. This is only 5 cars less than in May, when, against the background of the fuel crisis, Ukrainians bought the most new electric cars.
