Experts from the Institute of Auto Market Research analyzed vehicle registration statistics in Ukraine and identified the most popular models in three segments of tractor units: imported used, domestic resale, and new.
Tractor unit market dynamics
During October 2025, Ukrainians purchased a total of 1,491 new and used tractor units. This figure is 8.9% lower compared to the results of the same period in 2024, but 13.2% higher compared to September of this year.
The structure of this segment is as follows: the share of domestic resales was 56.9% (849 units), imports of used tractor units — 32.7% (487 units). The total share of "trucks" with mileage was 89.6%.
10.4% of tractor units were purchased new, which in quantitative terms is equal to 155 units of such equipment.
By individual subsegments, the comparative dynamics of the tractor unit market looks like this:
- Domestic resales: +3.4% MM, −6.4% YY
- Used imports: +20.2% MM, −21.1% YY
- New imports: +70.3% MM, +37.2% YY
The most popular tractors on the domestic market
The domestic tractor unit market in October was stable, albeit with a slight monthly growth (+3.4%), which indicates moderate activity of carriers. The picture here is familiar and predictable: those who offer maximum reliability at an adequate price are ahead.

The undisputed leader remains the DAF XF, which has long since earned the title of “the people’s tractor.” Its success is not just statistics, but a conscious choice of the majority: optimal “survivability”, low maintenance costs and the widest availability of spare parts make the DAF XF the safest investment in conditions of constant economic fluctuations.
Nearby, German heavyweights are located. The MAN TGX and Mercedes-Benz Actros hold the bar high, providing the necessary competition in the upper class. They are valued for their build quality, technological capabilities and comfort, although their price list on the secondary market may be higher.
Traditionally, the Swedish representatives — Volvo FH and Scania R-series — do not lose their fans. They compete not so much with price, but with unsurpassed comfort for the driver on long-distance flights, turning the cabin into a real home on wheels.
Interestingly, at the tail end of the Top 10, there are still some real “old-timers” who refuse to retire. Models like the Renault Magnum, despite their age, continue to be in steady demand. Their unique, spacious cabin with a flat floor is still an argument for those who put comfort first. At the same time, the Renault Premium and DAF CF serve as reliable, affordable “workhorses” for regional transportation, demonstrating that for many carriers, a low entry threshold and moderate cost of ownership remain the decisive factor, rather than the pursuit of the latest “Euro standard”.
The most popular used tractor units imported from abroad
After last month, "friendship won" when, with the same number of "fitted" trucks, the MAN TGX and DAF XF were on the first line, this time the majority of buyers said "yes" to German technology, and a little less voted (in the form of thick bundles of euro bills) for the endurance and versatility of the DAF XF.

The Swedish duo of Scania R-series and Volvo FH remain consistently high in the import rankings, with carriers willing to pay more for their premium comfort and durability, especially when it comes to international flights.

While mass-produced, but older models like the DAF CF and Renault Premium continue their way to Ukraine as a “budget” alternative, it is worth paying attention to the appearance in the Top 10 of more modern models — in particular, the Renault T-series. This is a signal of a gradual change in priorities and increased requirements for the class and year of manufacture of imported cars.
The most popular new tractor units
In the market for new long-haul trucks, we see that those who offer the best financing conditions and the latest models dominate. After several victories by the Iveco S-Way, this month the undisputed leader has become the Volvo FH. Its dominance is so significant that it formed almost half of all new deliveries in the month. This is clear evidence that large carriers who can afford to invest in new equipment are betting on the technological, economical and most reliable Swedish leader.
The second and third places were taken by Iveco S-Way and Scania R-series with a significant margin. Their presence indicates the diversification of fleets and the fact that companies are actively considering competitive offers, in particular from the Italian manufacturer.
“The positive trend that we have been seeing for several months in a row is a gradual increase in volumes in the tractor segment,” comments Ostap Novytsky, an expert on the car market, on the October statistical overview. “In comparison, all subsegments of this part of the market are growing month by month, and the positive here is that freight transportation is to some extent an indicator of economic activity. Even if we take into account that there was a surge in the new segment this time due to sales of the Volvo FH, this does not change the picture, because this sale does not look like a single order from one client — all tractors were distributed across Ukraine, where the largest group was 13 cars, then 12, 7, and then even less. So, not only the largest carriers are improving their fleets, but also mid-level companies that have decided to invest in new modern equipment. It remains to be hoped that in the next reporting periods this growth trend will not change to the opposite.”
