In Ukrainian car yards, autumn began with classics. And not only the calendar one — in the secondary market (total domestic resales and first registrations of used cars) in September 2025, a well-known set of Ukrainian favorites prevails: Volkswagen Golf, Skoda Octavia, Daewoo Lanos and a bit of prestige in the form of Volkswagen Passat and BMW X5.
Volkswagen Golf: champion of the plains and the Carpathians
The countryʼs most popular passenger car once again confirmed its title as a universal car.
In nine regions, from Podillia to the Carpathians, the Volkswagen Golf became the leader in September. It was chosen by residents of Vinnytsia, Volyn, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Rivne, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy, and Chernivtsi regions.
The reasons are clear: it is strong, simple, economical and at the same time has the image of a “European car without show-offs.” The market position is strengthened by the presence of an electric version of the e-Golf, as well as the fact that there are different price options — from a few hundred dollars for the still relevant second generation, to about $30 thousand for the latest eighth generation.

Daewoo Lanos: a folk classic without a pension
Daewoo Lanos is like a dry burdock: no matter how much you shake your pants, youʼll still bring it home.
September showed: in Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhia, Poltava, Kharkiv, and Kherson regions, it remains the favorite of the secondary market.
They choose it not with their hearts, but with calculation: cheap, familiar, repairs without Google, and spare parts in every village. And no matter what skeptics say, they can always be answered: "but definitely without a loan."
Skoda Octavia: proven practicality
Where people are used to counting money but are not ready to give up comfort, the Skoda Octavia reigns supreme.
In Transcarpathia, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions, it topped the rating.
This is a choice of practical ones: Czech rationalism, German technical base, large trunk and a choice of diesel options. And what else do you need?
Volkswagen Passat: peace of mind without experiments
Motorists in the capital, as well as Zhytomyr and Mykolaiv regions, made a choice in favor of the long-standing leader of the Ukrainian "secondary" market — the Volkswagen Passat.
This car is like a classic jacket: although its design hasnʼt changed much over the years, itʼs always relevant. Spacious, comfortable, versatile: it looks equally good in the parking lot of a business center, at the gate of a kindergarten, or on the dirt road to a summer cottage cooperative.
BMW X5: Odessa accent
And finally, Odessa, where life is always a little louder and more expensive.
The leader was the BMW X5 — a symbol that in the south, status is important even in times of austerity.
A car for those who donʼt just want to drive, but want everyone to see how you do it.
Result
September 2025 once again showed: the Ukrainian secondary market is a mirror of stability in unstable times.
Buyers choose the familiar, proven, understandable. Golf and Lanos are two poles of the same phenomenon: love for simplicity. And Octavia and Passat maintain a balance between intelligence and prestige. And only the Odesa region decided to write its own history — with all-wheel drive and a leather interior.
Data from the Luhansk region, as well as from the so-called Crimea, are missing.
