Gas for cars: Which cars got gasohol in September?

Since spring, the market for gas cylinder equipment installations has been showing low but stable rates, staying at the level of 1000–1200 installations per month. The key factor supporting this demand is the price advantage of gas over gasoline: since the beginning of the year, when the price of liquefied gas mixture gradually decreased (from 37 UAH/l to 34 UAH/l), gasoline, on the contrary, became more expensive (from 56 UAH/l to 58.6 UAH/l). The following factors are restraining (or leading to a gradual decrease in volumes): a decrease in the fleet of cars on which it is advisable to install LPG (which have "atmospheric" engines without direct injection and turbochargers), the price of mandatory certification of a vehicle after conversion, as well as an increase in the availability of electric vehicles.

The ratings of brands and models that were most often converted in September 2025 to work on two types of fuel, including a liquefied propane-butane mixture, demonstrate pragmatism and orientation towards SUVs and family cars. The top brands include a whole "legion" of proven brands: Toyota, Skoda, Hyundai, Volkswagen, Nissan and Ford.

These are mostly cars with "atmospheric" engines of old designs, which are ideally suited for a gas installation and are highly popular on the secondary market. American cars, such as Jeep and Ford, stand out in particular, which indicates an active conversion of cars imported from the USA, which often have engines of considerable volume, where the savings from LPG are maximum.

The model rating clearly reflects the main purpose of installing HBO: economical "tuning" of cars imported from the USA. Most often, large crossovers and family cars arriving from North America with large-capacity atmospheric engines are re-equipped. This segment is represented by a whole list: Nissan Rogue, Jeep Cherokee, Mitsubishi Outlander, Toyota Camry and Dodge Journey. For their operation in Ukraine, HBO is almost the only way to balance high fuel consumption with an acceptable budget.

Along with them, the top also includes universal bestsellers: Skoda Octavia, Hyundai Tucson and Toyota RAV4, which confirm their reliability and liquidity. They also often have atmospheric versions (some of which also come from the USA), suitable for conversion to gas. The presence of "classic" models, such as Daewoo Lanos, in this rating is becoming less noticeable, but still captures those owners who have decided to invest in extending the life of their old but reliable cars. Thus, the LPG market is now driven mainly by large cars imported from abroad, where fuel economy gives the maximum effect.
