In this article, we will look at two related segments that include used passenger electric vehicles — imports (first registrations, an indicator of fleet replenishment) and domestic resales ("secondary", an indicator of the turnover of such cars within the country). Letʼs start with the first registrations of "freshly driven" cars.
Electric vehicles — import
The share of "freshly driven" cars among all electric cars on the market as of August 2025 was 52.1%, that is, more than half, and, accordingly, more than the other two segments combined — sales of new and domestic resales of used electric cars. More about this in a separate review.
In total, over the past month, the Ukrainian car fleet was replenished with 6,018 BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) passenger cars with mileage.

In August, Tesla traditionally remained the leader in the import of used electric cars to Ukraine — 1,790 cars. The demand for models of the American brand does not weaken due to the combination of a recognizable image, technological sophistication and a wide range of offers at global auctions. Second place was taken by Nissan (621 units), which consistently supplies our market with more affordable, but reliable and easy-to-maintain models, primarily the Leaf. Third place was taken by KIA (549 units), a brand that is gradually increasing its presence in the segment, offering a modern design and good range even in more affordable versions. Hyundai (493 units) — another South Korean brand that offers similar quality and equipment equipment — came very close to KIA.
In August, the largest number of used electric cars arrived in Ukraine in the body of the Tesla Model Y crossover — 833 cars. The model holds the lead due to its popularity in the USA and Europe, significant range and spacious interior, which makes it universal for families and businesses. In second place is the Tesla Model 3 (641 units), which offers the same technological base, but in a more compact and dynamic sedan body. Third place was taken by the Nissan Leaf (557 units) — a classic “entrance ticket” to the world of electric cars for many Ukrainians due to its affordable price and ease of operation.
Interestingly, the Tesla Model Y crossover took first place not only among electric cars, but also in the rating of "freshly driven" passenger cars in general — bypassing the Volkswagen Golf. This is clear evidence that electric cars are already full-fledged market participants, and not exotic for a small group of techno-fans. And, most likely, over time, the presence of BEV cars will only increase — at least thatʼs what the car market statistics show.
The average age of electric cars arriving in our country last month was 4.7 years — the lowest value among all segments of our used car market.
Electric vehicles — domestic market
As of August 2025, the share of domestic resales in the electric vehicle segment was 30.8%, and the total number of BEV passenger cars that became the subjects of purchase and sale agreements in the domestic market was 3,561 units.

In the domestic market for resale of used electric cars in July, Tesla remained the leader — 952 cars. The American brand maintains its popularity not only among new importers, but also among those who have already operated cars in Ukraine, thanks to its recognition, technological sophistication, and high demand from buyers. In second place is Nissan (592 units), which traditionally attracts those looking for an affordable electric car for everyday use. The bulk of sales is accounted for by the Leaf, which has long established itself as a "workhorse" in its segment. Third place was taken by Volkswagen (423 units), which is gradually strengthening its position in this ranking thanks to the e-Golf and the ID family, and also benefits from the general affection of Ukrainians for this German brand.
Among individual models on the domestic resale market in July, the leader remained the Nissan Leaf — 556 cars. This hatchback continues to maintain the status of the most popular electric car in Ukraine, especially among those who value simplicity, cheap maintenance and affordable spare parts. In second place is the Tesla Model 3 (410 units), which attracts with a combination of technological sophistication and a more affordable price compared to the Model Y crossover, which was in third place (297 units).
In the second echelon, it is worth noting the Volkswagen e-Golf (229 units) and Tesla Model S (181 units). The VW e-Golf is interesting for those who want a "classic" hatchback with European assembly and moderate dimensions, and the Model S is for connoisseurs of premium electric sedans with a large range. This picture shows that in the domestic market, as well as in imports, several time-tested models retain leadership, but space is gradually appearing for niche solutions.
Finally, we would like to add that the electric vehicle segment remains the youngest in the secondary market as well — the average age of cars resold last month was 6 years. This is significantly less than the overall used car market, which is currently around 16 years old.
