The most popular hybrid cars in the first half of 2025

The advantages of cars with hybrid powertrains are lower fuel consumption, especially in the urban cycle, where the electric part of the drive takes an active part in the movement, accumulating braking energy, and a more efficient electric motor allows the car to move with less energy consumption.

Specialists of the Institute for Automotive Market Research analyzed data for the first half of 2025 and identified the 10 most popular models of such cars (HEV and PHEV together) in three segments: the domestic market, imports of used cars, and sales of new cars.

Domestic market

In this part of our car market, "Hybrids" are not the most popular product, their share is only 2%. However, this is still not zero, especially if you collect data on purchase and sale transactions for half a year.

The Toyota RAV4 is the leader here — as many as 949 resales in six months. High positions are also held by the Toyota Camry, Ford Fusion (Hybrid + Energi) and the classic Prius hybrid.

Also in the top ten are the Chevrolet Volt, Ford C-Max, Audi Q8 and Volvo XC90

Import of used cars

In the segment of used cars imported from abroad, the list is headed by the Toyota Prius. With a small margin behind this model is the Ford Fusion, the American version of the Mondeo, which can be either a self-charging hybrid HEV (Hybryd version) or a hybrid with recharging from an external source, which provides an autonomous range of about 30-40 km (Energi version). It is also worth noting that demand for the KIA Niro and Ford Escape is growing — hybrids that have proven themselves well in the US and are now finding a new life in Ukraine.

The share of passenger cars with a hybrid powertrain is higher than in the domestic market and is 4.8% according to the results of the first six months of 2025.

First registrations of new

Unlike the used car market, hybrids here occupy a solid share of 26.5% — that is, more than a quarter of all new cars sold in Ukraine have the Hybryd, HSD, or similar nameplate.

Among the models, the Toyota RAV4 holds the top spot with 1,647 new registrations. It is the absolute leader in the hybrid segment in Ukraine. Next — by a wide margin — are the Nissan Qashqai, Audi Q8, and the more compact Toyota Yaris Cross.

So, if you are considering buying a "hybrid" passenger car, or are engaged in the trade or import of cars, now you know which models are in the greatest demand among new and used ones on the Ukrainian car market.
