Motorcycle Market in Ukraine: Results of June 2025

Experts from the Institute for Automotive Market Research analyzed statistics on motorcycle registrations and identified the most popular brands in three segments: used imports, domestic resales, and new motorcycles.

Motorcycle market dynamics

The motorcycle segment is the most seasonally dependent among vehicles designed for transporting passengers or cargo. The diagram shows how the market becomes more active in the summer, during the high motorcycle season, and how sales volumes decrease in the off-season.

It is still difficult to say whether the peak of activity in the segment has been passed, because the high season is not over yet. For now, letʼs just announce the numbers: 9.5 thousand total volume of the segment. This is less than in the previous month — May, by −7.5%, but more than last year in June, by +9.7%.

Among the total number, 57% of motorcycles were new (imported from abroad), in quantitative terms this is 5,408 units.

3,230 motorcycle purchase and sale transactions were concluded on the domestic market, which accounted for 44% of the total.

Another 9% of motorcycles were imported used from abroad (852 units).

Dynamics of the motorcycle market in Ukraine, 2024-2025

By individual subsegments, the dynamics of motorcycle sales, where seasonality is very clearly expressed, and year-on-year comparison is of primary importance, looks as follows (MM — compared to the previous month, YY — compared to the same period last year):

  • Domestic resales: −7.1% MM, +3.6% YY
  • Used imports: −2.4% MM, +53.5% YY
  • New imports: −8.5% MM, +8.6% YY

The most popular motorcycles in the domestic market

In the domestic motorcycle market, there are no surprises: the “Japanese” continue to lead. Honda and Yamaha traditionally lead, demonstrating stable demand, especially among those who value reliability and proven classics. Behind them is a dense group of affordable brands: Geon, Lifan, Mustang, Bajaj. This is the choice of those looking for two-wheeled transport without overpayments. Kovi is also gaining momentum — a relatively new player focused on enduro and touring. But BMW and Kawasaki are for gourmets: fewer units, but with a wow effect at every traffic light.

The most popular used motorcycles imported from abroad

In the segment of import — a real biker international. The most imported classic "Japanese" — Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki remain the four leaders that are chosen by both beginners and experienced riders. But the share of motorcycles "with character" is also growing: Harley-Davidson confidently holds in the middle of the list, and Ducati, Indian, KTM and Triumph — remind that for some a motorcycle is not a means of transport, but a lifestyle. And despite their age, these machines arrive with ambitions for a new life on Ukrainian roads.

The most popular new motorcycles

In the segment of new motorcycles in Ukraine, the leaders are brands that are well known to buyers from the budget and utilitarian segments — Spark, Mustang, Lifan, Geon, Kovi, Forte. They are chosen for their simplicity, maintainability and affordable price. In addition, there is a stable demand for Bajaj and Shineray.

But even against the backdrop of savings, there was a place for the legend — Honda, albeit with smaller volumes, remains an important market player, especially among those who value the quality and resource of technology.

In the motorcycle segment, official statistics since the beginning of the year (as, after all, in previous years) have not recorded a single case of Ukrainian production. Unlike most other categories of transport, where local modifications or assembly at least occur, there are zero of them here. Meanwhile, the average monthly demand for new motorcycles has remained stable at 3,500 units, even taking into account seasonality. Against this background, it seems strange that no one has yet tried to create a local product — even from imported components bolted to their own frame, to begin with. Does this craft really look less attractive than the twelfth coffee shop or the eighth barbershop in the same residential area?
