According to the results of the analysis of passenger car registrations in Ukraine for the period from January to April 2025, clear trends remain in the preferences of Ukrainian drivers regarding bodies, and in some segments, important shifts have occurred.
The sample included all new passenger vehicles that were registered for the first time in Ukraine during the specified period, as well as used ones (which include domestic resales and imports from abroad). It is worth noting that “van” type cars are mostly models like the Volkswagen Caddy or MB V-Class. Although they could fall into the LCV (light commercial vehicle) group, since their registration certificates indicate “passenger”, they are included in these statistics. On the other hand, some pickup trucks with a gross weight exceeding 3,500 kg or whose registration certificates indicate “truck” did not fall into this category, but since these are not the most popular segments, these points will not have a significant impact on the overall picture.
Used cars: change of leader
For the first time in a long time, crossovers have taken first place in the structure of used car sales, ahead of sedans by literally one hundredth of a percent (29.09% versus 29.08%). This is a symbolic but indicative change in consumer priorities.
Next are hatchbacks (18.8%), station wagons (12.5%), minivans (5.1%), and vans (4.1%).
The least popular are coupes (0.9%), convertibles (0.2%) and pickup trucks (0.18%).

New cars: absolute dominance of crossovers
The situation is even more pronounced in the new car segment. Crossovers accounted for over 72% of all new car registrations in 2025. No other body type even came close to that share.
In second place are sedans (10.7%), followed by hatchbacks (6.1%) and station wagons (5%).
Minivans and vans are hovering around 2–3%, while coupes, pickups, and convertibles combined barely reach 0.5%.
Conclusions
The modern market confirms the trend: more and more Ukrainians are choosing practical, versatile cars. Crossovers have long become a symbol of versatility, space, and "all-terrain" — and this is clearly reflected in both new and used car sales.
At the same time, other body shapes — although they have their buyers — are gradually fading into the background.
