Experts from the Institute of Automotive Market Research analyzed vehicle registration statistics in Ukraine in the first quarter of 2025 and identified the top brands and types in three segments of semi-trailers: used imports, domestic resales, and first new registrations.
Semi-trailer market dynamics
The segment of semi-trailers did not show growth either last year or at the beginning of the current year — all its subsegments have negative dynamics. Accordingly, a similar picture is observed in the related segment of semi-trailers, which we are considering here. During the 1st quarter of 2025, Ukrainian carriers purchased 3698 new and used semi-trailers. What 52.8% less than in the same period in 2024.
By individual subsegments, the dynamics of semi-trailer trade, comparing Q1-2025 to Q1-2024, looks like this:
- Domestic resales: −51.4%
- Imports of used cars: −54.6%
- New imports: −61.7%
- Made in Ukraine: −24.7%
Last year, 59.0% of all semi-trailers were purchased on the domestic market (2,182 units). 1,248,000 used semi-trailers were imported from abroad, which accounted for 33.7% of the total.
7.2% of semi-trailers (268 units) were purchased new. Of this number, 85 ( 2.3% ) were manufactured in Ukraine.
The most popular semi-trailers on the domestic market
The most popular category here was dump trucks, and there was also demand for on-board tilt versions and tilt platforms.
Among manufacturers, the leader in the domestic market was the German Shmitz Cargobull — 515 products of this brand were purchased.
The second and third places were also taken by German brands — Krone (247 units) and Kögel (196 units), respectively.
The most popular used semi-trailers imported from abroad
Among the "freshly imported" semi-trailers, the most popular were the tented versions, and refrigerators and platforms were also actively imported.

The first in the list of the most popular used semi-trailers imported from abroad was the Shmitz Cargobull brand with a total of 555 first registrations.
Krone products came in second place (134 units). Kögel came in third place (102 units).
Most popular new semi-trailers
In this group, dump trucks are the most popular type. Platforms are the second most popular, and refrigerated trucks are third.
The ranking of new semi-trailer manufacturers was led by Shmitz Cargobull (55 units). Second place in Wielton products (36 units), third place went to Everlast with a total of 34 units.
