Experts from the Institute of Auto Market Research analyzed vehicle registration statistics in Ukraine and identified the most popular models in three segments of trucks weighing over 3.5 tons (except for tractor units) : used imports, domestic resales, and purchases of new cars, including those converted in Ukraine.
Truck market dynamics
The market volume of trucks with a gross weight of over 3,500 kg in Q1 2025 amounted to almost 5 thousand units. Compared to the overall result with the results of Q1 2024, volumes in the segment decreased by 35.4%.
The structure of this segment is as follows: 71.3% (3530 units) — domestic resales, 13% (645 units) — imports of used trucks. 5.6% (278 units) — imports of new trucks, 10.1% (2143 units) — sales of trucks manufactured (or converted in factory conditions) in Ukraine. The total share of new vehicles in this group was 15.7%.
The dynamics by individual subsegments, the shares of which were just given, are as follows (Q1-2025 to Q1-2024):
- Domestic resales: −44.6%
- Imports of used cars: −0.6%
- New imports: +29.9%
- Made in Ukraine: +16.2%
Top 10 trucks in the domestic market
The most popular type in this subsegment was dump trucks, with stable demand for vans and flatbed versions.
Among individual models , the Mercedes-Benz Atego took first place, with the ZiL-130 in second place.the third is a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter.
Top 10 imported trucks with mileage
Most often, the Ukrainian fleet last year was replenished with tail lift vans, regular vans, and refrigerators.

The top three new arrivals trucks look like this: Mercedes-Benz Atego in first place, MAN TGL in second, and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter in third position.
Top 10 new trucks
Among new trucks with a gross vehicle weight of over 3.5 tons, the greatest demand was observed for vans, dump trucks, and various special equipment, of which the largest number was manipulator cranes.
Among individual models, the leader was the Citroen Jumper, the second position was taken by the collection van based on the Ford Transit, which after conversion received a new index VD C3/M3 FTCC. The third is a special vehicle for road services, made on the JAC N200 chassis (SBM MDKZ 26-32).
In general, among the new 3.5+T class trucks, the most popular models were mainly various special vehicles converted (or retrofitted) by local enterprises based on imported chassis from other automakers.
