Top 20 most affordable used cars with automatic transmission in ads

Having studied the array of ads on major online platforms using the Automoto.ua aggregator, analysts from the Auto Market Research Institute identified the most affordable models with automatic transmissions presented on our secondary market. Only those options were taken into account for which at least 3 thousand ads were created during 2024.

Cars with automatic transmissions (ATCs) are becoming increasingly popular among Ukrainian drivers due to their ease of driving, especially when driving through areas with heavy traffic. In addition, “automatics” are taking up an increasing share every year — reaching over 80% in new cars, and later, if electric cars displace cars with internal combustion engines, it is obvious that “mechanics” will remain only as a memory, along with a manual starter or ignition timing control knob.

Leaders in the rating by price

1. The Daewoo Matiz is the most economical option with an average price of $2,999 and an average age of 16.2 years. This model is suitable for urban use, especially for beginners or drivers looking for the most budget-friendly transport that will not burden the budget with expensive maintenance.
2. The Smart Fortwo is a compact city car with an average price of $3,300. Its small size makes it ideal for parking in tight spaces. However, this same parameter may scare off some buyers — although there is enough space for two in the Smart, the car generally feels extremely small.
3. The Mercedes-Benz A-Class is an attractive choice at $4,600 for those looking for an affordable and practical car from a premium manufacturer.

Price segments and features

• Average price: Most cars on this list have an average price of up to $9,300.
• Average age: The youngest car on the list is the Nissan Leaf (8.4 years), which is also an electric car, which gives it a number of other advantages.
• Popular brands: The ranking features the most models from brands such as Ford, Hyundai, and Mercedes-Benz, which indicates the trust Ukrainians have in these manufacturers.

And they are also economical, have a quiet ride and good dynamics. Therefore, a few words should be said about this segment separately. In particular, the list includes the Nissan Leaf electric car. In addition to the fact that it was included in the list of all the most affordable cars with an automatic transmission, it is also the most affordable practical electric car on the market (average price $8,350, starting price — from $5,000). There are also electric versions of the Ford Focus, the characteristics of which are similar to the just mentioned "Japanese".
