The average price of a liquefied propane-butane mixture, which is used as an alternative automotive fuel, crossed the 35 hryvnias/l mark at the end of November, reports the specialized agency NaftoRynok .
When talking not about average, but actual prices, you can see even UAH 37/l for LPG on the gas station shelves of individual operators. Here are the current average prices for liquefied gas at gas stations in Ukraine:
Prior to this, the networks actively increased the price of liquefied gas for several months, adapting to the new excise tax rates introduced on September 1. In general, since the beginning of September, the average price of LPG has increased by UAH 6.46/l.
At the same time, the ratio of the average price of LPG at gas stations to the cost of a liter of A-95 gasoline on average increased to 62.9% during November 1-19, compared to 49.6% in August 2024 before the increase in fuel excise rates. According to market participants, the relevant changes have significantly reduced the economic benefits of autogas consumption compared to gasoline, which has already become noticeable in the sales volumes at gas stations.
And this is not the end point: from January 1, 2025, the excise tax on liquefied gas will increase by 17%, from 148 to 173 euros per 1,000 liters. Accordingly, at the beginning of 2025, the tax burden on autogas is expected to increase by UAH 1.3/l (including VAT) at the current rate of the NBU. Which in turn will be reflected in the final price of this type of fuel. In addition, one should not forget about the direct dependence of retail fuel prices on the foreign currency exchange rate (in which wholesale gas purchases are made) — if the exchange rate changes, it can also affect LPG prices for motorists.
