Experts of the Institute of Car Market Research analyzed the statistics of vehicle registrations in Ukraine and identified the most popular models in three segments of trucks weighing more than 3.5 tons (except tractor-trailers) : used import, domestic resale and purchase of new cars, including those converted in Ukraine.
Truck market dynamics
The market volume of trucks with a gross weight of more than 3,500 kg in October amounted to 2,000. piece This segment of the Ukrainian car market continues to gradually lose momentum: although the given total indicator is only 1% lower compared to September of the current year, compared to October 2023, the decline is already a more significant 17.6%.
The structure of this segment is as follows: 75.8% (1519 units) — domestic resales, 10% (200 units) — import of used trucks, 7.4% (148 units) — import of new ones, 6.8% (136 units .) — sales of products manufactured (or converted in factory conditions) in Ukraine. The total share of new machines of this group is 14.1%.
The dynamics of individual sub-segments, the shares of which have just been given, are as follows (MM — the reporting month compared to the previous month; YY — the reporting month compared to the same month last year):
- Domestic resales: -2.6% MM, -24.1% YY
- Used imports: -1.5% MM, -13.4% YY
- New imports: +87.3% MM, +78.3% YY
- Made in Ukraine: -25% MM, +19% YY
Top 10 trucks on the domestic market
Dump trucks remain the most popular type in this sub-segment, while vans and on-board versions also remain in demand.
Among the individual models, the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter is in first place, the KamAZ 5511 is in second place, probably due to active agricultural work, and the Mercedes-Benz Atego is third.
Top 10 imported trucks with mileage
Most often, last month, the Ukrainian fleet was replenished with hydroboard vans, refrigerated vans, and container trucks.

The top three newly arrived trucks look like this: Mercedes-Benz Atego in first place, MAN TGL in second place, and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter in third place.
Top 10 new trucks
Among new trucks with a gross weight of more than 3.5 tons, the greatest demand was observed for vans, dump trucks and refrigerator vans. Other types (e.g. garbage trucks or mobile cranes) were bought in units.
Among individual models, Citroen Jumper became the leader, Renault Master took second place, Ford 3542 dump truck came third.
The segment of trucks with a gross weight of more than 3500 kg is not the only one where there is a stable decrease in the total volume of trades. A similar picture is observed in the adjacent LCV segment. There, the market volumes are also decreasing every month. Which, most likely, is a consequence of the slowdown of business processes in the country, which leads to a decrease in the demand for transport for commercial activities.
