Where is it cheaper and where is it more expensive? The price picture of the Ukrainian secondary car market
In Ukraine, there are many websites with ads for the sale of cars. Experts of the Institute of Car Market Research analyzed the offer available there, and determined the average prices of the offered cars for each separate region (except for T.O.T.).
It is worth starting with the fact that this review cannot be interpreted as "the same model costs differently in different regions", it is a general cross-section of average prices from online ads, which partially allows you to understand the purchasing power in the region, orient yourself with respect to the average price range, around which most of the offers are concentrated, as well as see a picture of the offer, which helps with the choice.
We will consider this diagram starting from the lower part: regions such as Kherson, Donetsk and Luhansk are located in close proximity to hostilities, and parts of the territories of these regions are temporarily occupied. These circumstances do not allow local car markets to work there at full capacity, the fleet that will later make an offer is updated slowly, so the average prices are the lowest there.
If we further examine the list from top to bottom, it is also possible to trace a certain geographical reference to the distance to the collision line — the further the region from it, the higher the prices there, which indicates a higher activity in the car market, and vice versa.

The upper part of the diagram, from Lviv to Chernivtsi regions (with the exception of two, which we will mention in a minute), is close to the western border, that is, the one that borders Europe, and from where "freshly driven" cars are supplied to Ukraine. It is known that the average age of imported cars is lower than those resold domestically, so the average prices in these areas are higher, since there are many imported cars on offer on online classifieds sites.
As for the exceptions, they include the Kyiv region, where the city of Kyiv, in particular, leads in sales of new cars, which later replenish the supply on the "secondary" market, reducing the average age and increasing average prices. Another region that does not belong to the West is Odesa region. At one time, before the sea routes were blocked by the occupiers, there was a developed business of supplying, repairing, and selling spare parts and finished cars arriving from the countries of America, Korea, and China. Delivery methods have changed now, but most businesses have remained and continue to operate in the same field.
So, where the average prices are higher, there are more "freshly driven" cars, a larger selection of them, as well as a more active auto business in general.
