Experts of the Institute of Car Market Research analyzed the statistics of vehicle registrations in Ukraine in September and identified the most popular models in three segments of buses: import of used, domestic resale and purchase of new ones.
Bus market dynamics
In September 2024, Ukrainian carriers purchased 695 new and used buses. This is 13.6% less than in the same period last year, but 16.2% more than in August 2024.
Of all types of commercial transport (trucks, trailers, etc.), only the bus segment saw an increase in volumes in September. In all other segments, on the contrary, there is a significant decrease in rates. At the same time, it should be taken into account that the market of cars for passenger transportation in itself is not too large, and any change can affect the total volumes on it. As this time, a significant increase in sales of locally produced buses (which mostly happens on the eve of tenders for city carriers or state orders for school buses) "pulled up" the entire segment.
By individual sub-segments, the dynamics of bus sales is as follows (comparing last month to the previous month, MM, and last month to the same month last year, YY):
- Domestic resales: +11% MM, -13% YY
- Used imports: -12% MM, -20% YY
- New imports: −33% MM, −47% YY
- Made in Ukraine: +116% MM, -04% YY
Most of the buses were bought on the domestic market : 516 units., which made up 74.2% of the total number.
8.8% of used buses, or 61 units, were brought from abroad.
Also last month, 118 new buses were registered for the first time: 108 of them were manufactured or converted in Ukraine ( 15.5% ), the remaining 10 (1.4%) came from abroad.
The most popular buses on the domestic market
Buses based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter remain the leader in domestic resales, with 153 units bought. A significant part of these vehicles was converted into passenger buses from trucks at one time.
In second place is Bohdan/Ataman A-092with a result of 62 machines. On the third is BAZ "Etalon" A079(32 pcs.).
The most popular used buses brought from abroad
In September, buses based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter took first place in this sub-segment, 12 of them arrived. In second place is the Volkswagen Crafter (8 units).
Third place with the result of 5 city cars in MAN Lionʼs City.

The most popular new buses
The first place in the sub-segment of new cars for passenger transportation was won by BAZ A081 "Etalon", which was submitted for the first registration in the amount of 57 units.
The second in this ranking is ZAZ A-08, with a total of 24 cars sold.
Bohdan/Ataman A-093 (12 units) took the third place.
