Experts of the Auto Market Research Institute analyzed vehicle registration statistics in Ukraine during September and identified the most popular models in three segments of truck tractors: used import, domestic resale, and new purchase.
Dynamics of the truck tractor market
In September 2024, Ukrainians purchased a total of 1,565 new and used truck tractors. This figure is a significant 41.6% less than the same period in 2023, and 16.6% less than sales in August 2024.
And this is the third segment reviewed by IDA analysts, which is directly related to business, and in which a clear trend of a significant decrease in volumes can be observed. The situation is similar in the group of trucks with a gross weight of more than 3.5 tons, as well as in the LCV segment. In general, this is a rather negative indicator, which is rather a consequence than a cause, that is, it reflects signs of business stagnation in the country.
Structure: The share of domestic sales was 60.9%, the import of used truck tractors was 31.8%.At the same time, the total share of "trucks" with mileage amounted to almost 93%.
7.3% of truck tractors were purchased new, which in quantitative terms equals 114 units of such equipment.
By individual sub-segments, the dynamics of the truck tractor market (compared month to previous month, MM, and month to the same month last year, YY) looks as follows:
- Domestic resales: -18% MM, -26% YY
- Used imports: -18% MM, -58% YY
- New imports: −03% MM, −42% YY
The most popular tractors on the domestic market
DAF XF confidently remains the most popular tractor unit on the domestic market in Ukraine. 267 contracts for the sale of this model were concluded.
The second place in terms of quantity is MAN TGX, 145 units, the third is Volvo FH, 105 units.
The most popular used tractor units brought from abroad
In September, the MAN TGX, which added 147 vehicles to our fleet, took the lead among the "driven" tractors, followed by the DAF XF, with 145 first registrations and second place. Volvo FH (65 units) will continue to occupy the third position

The most popular new tractors
Among the new models of semi-trailer trucks, Ukrainian hauliers most often bought the Scania R-Series —41 units of this tractor were sold.
The second place in this category is occupied by MAN TGX with a total of 23 new cars. Third position (14 units) in Scania S-Series.
