Experts of the Auto Market Research Institute analyzed the statistics of vehicle registrations in Ukraine in August and identified the top types and brands in three segments of semi-trailers: import of used, domestic resale and purchase of new ones.
Dynamics of the semi-trailer market
Since the tractor unit segment did not show growth in August, a similar pattern is observed in the related semi-trailer segment. Over the past month, Ukrainians purchased 2,100 new and used semi-trailers (32 units less than the previous month). It by 36.8% less than in the same period last year in 2023, and also by 1.5% less compared to the results of July-2024.
By individual sub-segments, the dynamics of semi-trailer trade is as follows (comparing last month to the month before it, MM, and last month to the same month last year, YY):
- Domestic resales: +0.2% MM, -27% YY
- Used imports: +7.4% MM, -45.2% YY
- New imports: −36.5% MM, −56.9% YY
- Made in Ukraine: 0% MM, −74.6% YY
According to the results of August, 63.5% of all semi-trailers were bought on the domestic market (1,320 transactions). 608 used semi-trailers were brought from abroad, which accounted for 29.3% of the total volume.
7.2% of semi-trailers (150 units) were purchased new. Of this number, 16 were produced in Ukraine, and the remaining 134 units. were imported new from abroad.
The most popular semi-trailers on the domestic market
Among manufacturers, the German Shmitz remains the leader in the domestic market of semi-trailers — 320 units were purchased.
The second and third places were also taken by German brands — Krone (153 units) and Kögel (139 units), respectively.

Second place was won by Krone products (85 units). Kögel (57 units) was in third place.
