In August , 1,209 new passenger electric cars were added to the Ukrainian car fleet, which, as we mentioned in the general overview of this segment, is an absolute record — so far, more new passenger cars of the BEV family have not yet arrived for first registration. In general, the share of new electric cars in their segment is 12.8%.
The increase is solid: in a month-to-month comparison, volumes have increased by 22%, and in a year-to-year section (August-2023 to August-2024) a significant +74%! At the same time, it is worth remembering that this record has a certain flavor of synthetics: about a third of buyers made their purchase decisions under informational pressure about the likely introduction of a 15% tax on the first registration of passenger cars, so in these statistics we definitely have purchases that were shifted from calendars September or October to August. Talks about increasing fuel prices (increased excise duty rates) have also added their own, which may soon come into effect.
Be that as it may, the electric car market is at least holding on to its "statistical plateau" or even increasing volumes — thatʼs a good thing. And the specialists of the Institute of Car Market Research have already identified ten brands of new passenger electric cars, which were most often registered as new for the first time.

- Zeekr — 122 pcs.
- Nissan — 92 pcs.
- Mercedes-Benz — 78 pcs.
- Audi — 62 pcs.

- BMW — 21 pcs.
The following are the Top 10 models of new electric cars, the most popular of the last summer month.
- Honda M-NV — 174 pcs.
- BYD Song Plus — 174 pcs.
- Volkswagen ID.4 — 147 pcs.
- Zeekr 001 — 111 pcs.
- Nissan Ariya — 89 pcs.
- BYD Song — 46 pcs.
- Audi Q4 — 42 pcs.
- Mercedes-Benz EQS — 39 pcs.
- BYD Seagull — 29 pcs.
- MG 4 — 27 pcs.
The first and second lists are clearly oversaturated with Chinese brands and models. In addition, it should be understood that under Japanese or European brands there can also be products Made in China, which are relocated to Ukraine. After all, why do we need evaluative judgments if we usually rely on calculations? So, out of 1,209 new electric cars in August, 1,027 were produced in China. That is, the share of local products (under different brands) was 85%!
