What buses did you buy in July? Rating of new and used models

Experts of the Auto Market Research Institute analyzed the statistics of vehicle registrations in Ukraine in July and identified the most popular models in three segments of buses: used import, domestic resale, and new purchase.

Bus market dynamics

In July 2024, Ukrainian carriers purchased 621 new and used buses. This is 27.1% less than in the same period last year, but 2.8% more than in June 2024. The peak of trading in the bus segment fell in the middle of summer last year, then the demand for this type of passenger transport decreased, after which there was a slight increase in trading in February of this year, which at the beginning of spring changed to a decrease in volumes, which was interrupted only in May, probably due to " rewriting" of transport, and then everything came to record low values in June and July.

By individual sub-segments, the dynamics of bus sales is as follows (comparing last month to the previous month, MM, and last month to the same month last year, YY):

• Domestic resales: +1.6% MM, -28.3% YY
• Used imports: -19% MM, -44% YY
• New imports: +208.3% MM, +131.3% YY
• Made in Ukraine: −14.3% MM, −31.4% YY

Most of the buses were bought on the domestic market : 5,019 units, which made up 82% of the total number.

8.2% of used buses from the total number were brought from abroad : 51 units.

Also last month, 61 new buses were registered for the first time: 24 of them were manufactured or converted in Ukraine ( 3.9% ), the remaining 37 pcs. (6%) came from abroad.

The most popular buses on the domestic market

Buses based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter remain the leader in domestic resales, 138 of which were bought. A significant part of these vehicles was converted into passenger buses from trucks at one time.

In second place is BAZ "Etalon" A079with a result of 55 cars. In third place is "Bohdan" A-092 (36 units), in fourth place is Volkswagen LT(27 pcs.).

Fifth place, with the number of 24 buses, was taken by Iveco Daily.

In general, in the domestic market, the majority belongs to buses of small and medium capacity.

The average age of buses sold on the domestic market in July was 19.7 years.

The most popular used buses brought from abroad

Due to a significant number of legislative restrictions, few buses are brought from abroad today. Such vehicles are subject to the limitation of the environmental standard no lower than "Euro-5" (from next year — "Euro-6"), and the amount of excise tax is 50 times higher for buses over 8 years old, which makes their import economically unprofitable.

In July , Mercedes-Benz Sprinter-based buses took first place in this sub-segment, 13 of them arrived. In second place is the urban Mercedes-Benz Citaro (6 units).

The third place belongs to VanHool T9 (4 units), which it shares with the Iveco Aptineo "bus" with the same number of 4 newly arrived cars. According to this principle, the fourth position went to two more models — Volkswagen Crafter and Mercedes-Benz Vario, because they entered the first registration in the same number — 3 units each. each Accordingly, the fifth place is sharedas many as six models, which can be seen in the infographic below.

The first place in the sub-segment of new cars for passenger transportation was Ford Transit, which was submitted for the first registration in the amount of 29 units.

Second place goes to the familiar "townsman" Bogan/Ataman A-092 (10 pcs.). The third is a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, sold in the amount of 4 units.

Fourth position in BAZ A081 "Etalon" (3 pcs.). The fifth step is occupied by three models at once — Fiat Ducato, SKS-IVML110-22CB and Bohdan/Ataman A-093, which were sold in the amount of 2 units. each one All other models with zero mileage have sold one copy each.
