Experts of the Institute of Car Market Research analyzed the statistics of vehicle registrations in Ukraine in July and identified the Top models in three segments of trucks weighing more than 3.5 tons (except tractor-trailers) : used import, domestic resale and purchase of new cars, including those converted in Ukraine .
Truck market dynamics
In July, Ukrainian carriers purchased a total of 2,400 trucks with a gross weight of more than 3.5 tons. This is 10.4% less than in the same period last year, and 10.9% less than in June 2024.
The majority of trucks were purchased on the domestic market: 82.6% (2 thousand units).
Used 6.8% of trucks (163 units) were brought from abroad.
Last month, 52 imported and 203 manufactured (or converted) trucks were purchased in Ukraine, a total of 255 trucks., which is a share of 10.6%.

Eight of the twenty most popular trucks remain on this list as models of the Russian-Soviet automotive industry. At the same time, the average age of trucks weighing more than 3.5 tons, re-registered to new owners in July 2024, was 22.5 years. The scale of the excise duty, which increases it by 40 or 50 times when a truck exceeds 5 or 8 years of age, respectively, deters Ukrainian businesses that need such transport from its mass import. This, in turn, does not make it possible to update the fleet with vehicles available to local buyers, even those that meet the Euro-5 environmental standard.
It is also worth noting that there are a few months left before the introduction of Euro-6 economy standards for trucks, which will enter into force on January 1, 2025 — which will be an additional factor in the increase in the price of imported cars of this group.
The most popular used trucks are imported from abroad
Vans with hydroboards (48 units), vans (25 units), refrigerated vans with hydroboards (21 units), container carriers (17 units), and platforms (11 units) were most often imported from abroad in July.
