Market of semi-trailers for "fours": What types and brands were bought in April?

Experts of the Auto Market Research Institute analyzed the statistics of vehicle registrations in Ukraine in April and identified the Top types and brands in three segments of semi-trailers: import of used, domestic resale and purchase of new ones.

Dynamics of the semi-trailer market

As in the segment of semi-trailer trucks, in April the activity of the market regarding the trade of semi-trailers for them did not change too much. During the past month, Ukrainians purchased 2,600 new and used semi-trailers. It   by 13.5% less than in the same period last year in 2023, and also by 2.4% less than in March 2024.

If in the related segment of semi-trailer tractors there was some statistical growth in market volumes, probably due to an increase in the number of re-registrations of "extra" machines, then semi-trailers showed only a decrease in their sales, which is likely to continue at least until the beginning of the grain harvesting season, when the demand for dump trucks will increase. grain carriers And even if this demand was not "closed" by carriers in previous years.

According to the results of April , 55.2% of all semi-trailers were bought on the domestic market (1.5 thousand transactions). 1,008 used semi-trailers were brought from abroad, which accounted for 38.1% of the total number.

6.8% of semi-trailers were purchased new(180 pcs.). Of this number, 21 were produced in Ukraine, and the remaining 159 units. were imported new from abroad.

The most popular semi-trailers on the domestic market

The largest demand on the domestic market in April was observed for tipper semi-trailers. 25.5%, or 373 units, purchased these. quantitatively Container carriers ( 12.9%, 189 units) and on-board awnings ( 11.3%, 165 units) do not lose their popularity.

On-board versions also made it to the Top 5( 10.5%, 154 pcs.) and awning semi-trailers (126 pcs., 8.6% ).

Among manufacturers, the German Shmitz remains the leader in the domestic market of semi-trailers. Among all semi-trailers, they were 21.7% (317 units).

The second and third places were also occupied by German brands — Krone (162 units, 11.1% ) and Koegel (141 units, 9.7% ), respectively.

Austrian Schwarzmuller (71 units, 4.9% ) is in fourth place, Wielton is in fifth place (63 units, 4.3% ).

The most popular used semi-trailers brought from abroad

During April 2024, the most frequently imported from abroad were awning semi-trailers( 38.5%, 388 units), awning platforms ( 15%, 151 units) and refrigerators ( 14.9%, 150 units).

Dump trucks ( 10.2%, 103 units) and container trucks ( 8%, 81 units) were also among the top five most popular by type.

Manufacturers: the first in the list of the most popular used semi-trailers brought from abroad was once again the Shmitz brand. Its share was 48.2% (486 units).

Second place was taken by Krone products (130 units, 12.9% ). Koegel was in third place (99 units, 9.8% ), and Schwarzmueller was in fourth place (42 units, 4.2% ).

Wielton closes the top five with a total of 21 units, and a share in its segment of 2.1%.

Most of all new semi-trailers bought in April were refrigerators (38 units, 21.1% ) and dump trucks (36 units, 20% ).

Awning semi-trailers in their market segment occupied 13.3% (24 pcs.), on-board awnings were sold in the amount of 18 pcs. which is a share of 10%, occupying the third and fourth places, respectively. The fifth number in the list by types belongs to tanks for dangerous goods (15 units, 8.3% ).

The rating of manufacturers of new semi-trailers will continue to be headed by the German Shmitz ( 48.3%, 87 units). The second place was taken by Wielton (22 units, 12.2% ), and the third place by Stas ( 8.3%, 15 units).

The fourth step in the products of the Everlast brand (12 units, 6.7% ) closes the top five TAD with a total of 3.3% and 6 semi-trailers.
