Experts of the Institute of Car Market Research analyzed the statistics of car registrations and identified the Top-20 most popular used models that were bought (and simply reissued) in Ukraine in April.
On the domestic market during April, service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs registered 124,500 agreements for the sale of used cars. This is 58.6% more than in April 2023, and 44.1% more than in March 2024. This is an absolute quantitative record for the domestic market, at least for the past 10 years.
However, before proceeding to a detailed review of this segment of the car market, it is worth noting that this time the picture of brands and models may not fully correspond to reality. Because, as analysts of the Auto Market Research Institute point out, there is a significant possibility that about 40% of deals were made between family members or relatives. Ukrainians are encouraged to take such actions by the new laws on mobilization (which will soon enter into force), which contain a rule regarding the potential seizure of cars from individuals for defense purposes, if such a person owns more than one vehicle.
Therefore, it should be assumed that in April the number of actual sales remained at the level of previous months, that is, about 80...85 thousand transactions, and the market picture may be changed to some extent by the so-called "second cars in the family", which were most often reissued on other persons to remove "extra" vehicles.

What the experiment in real circumstances, created by the law makers, proves.
