Experts of the Institute of Car Market Research analyzed the statistics of the first registrations of passenger cars and identified the Top 20 most popular models that were "imported" from abroad in December 2023.
The most popular brands of imported cars with mileage
As among domestic resales, the rating of "freshly driven" used cars in December was traditionally led by the Volkswagen brand, and also with a clear margin from rivals in terms of market share. 3,900 such cars were registered, which was 17.1% of the total number.
The second place (somewhat unexpected for the Ukrainian car market, but expected, because cars from Ingolstadt gradually moved up the list) went to Audi, with a result of 1.9 thousand first registrations and a share of 8.2%. In third place is Renault (7.8%, 1.8 thousand), followed by Nissan with a result of 1.7 thousand and 7.4%. Skoda closes the top five ( 6.2%, 1.4 thousand units).

The most popular models of used cars from abroad
Volkswagen Golf remained the leader of "freshly driven" used cars. In December, they were broughtalmost 1.3 thousand pcs. It is helped by the presence of an electric version of the e-Golf, which we take into account in the total number, as it differs only in the type of power plant, and the models are not divided by the type of fuel in the ratings. And this time, it is the only model that has replenished the Ukrainian fleet in the amount of more than 1,000. The results of other rating participants are much more modest.
Skoda Octavia is in second place (899 units), Volkswagen Passat is in third place (760 units), which has improved its position compared to the previous month by 1 step. The fourth on the list is Renault Megane, which was "caught up" and submitted for the first registration in the amount of 695 units. Voklswagen Tiguan (535 units) closes the top five "freshly driven" passenger cars.
In the December Top-20, as in several previous months, there are three electric cars: Nissan Leaf, Tesla Model 3 and another Tesla — Model Y. In addition to them, the electric Volkswagen e-Golf, which added 310 vehicles to our fleet, is included in the total. The import of electric cars is facilitated by the "zero" rate of customs clearance and the absence of a fee to the Pension Fund upon first registration. You can also add the fuel economy factor to this list, the prices of which are quite significant.

We remind you that there is a significant possibility that the picture of imports may soon change, both quantitatively and qualitatively. After all, the current statistics mostly include cars imported even before the blocking of the Ukrainian-Polish border by certain "activists".
