What cars and for how much were sold on the Internet in 2023?

In March, Ukrainians sold cars more actively on the Internet. The Automoto.ua aggregator collects ads for the sale of all cars from 100 auto sites in Ukraine. Based on these data, the experts of the Institute of Auto Market Research studied the activity of sellers, the situation in the regions and compiled a rating of the models on sale in the first quarter of 2023.

During the first quarter of 2023, from January to March, Ukrainians posted 663,400 ads for the sale of cars on the Internet. Of them in March — almost 257 thousand, which turned out to be the second indicator in the last 13 months. There was more only in May 2022, at the peak of the so-called "zero customs clearance". In general, the number of ads on the Internet is growing for the third month in a row.

Simultaneously, the total value of cars placed in advertisements is growing: during the first quarter, it amounted to $5.28 billion, of which $2.07 billion was in March.

According to the results of January-March, the largest number of advertisements were placed in Kyiv region and the city of Kyiv (a total of 116.2 thousand), Dnipropetrovsk (65.4 thousand) and Lviv (55.9 thousand) regions. The least — in Kherson (2.2 thousand), Luhansk (4.6 thousand) and Donetsk (15.3 thousand) regions.

The cheapest (by average cost) passenger cars were in Donetsk ($2,999), Kherson ($3,000), and Mykolaiv ($3,500) regions, the most expensive — in Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast ($6,000), Lviv ($5,650), and Volyn ($6,200) regions

The total cost of cars was also the highest in the capital and Kyiv region ($1.33 billion), Lviv ($501.8 million), and Dnipropetrovsk ($481.1 million) regions, the lowest — in Kherson ($11.1 million), Luhansk ($47, 5 million) and Chernihivska ($85.3 million).

The average price of cars sold on the Internet in the 1st quarter of 2023 was $5,150. It was the lowest in February ($5,000), and in March it increased to $5,299 (+6%).

The most popular used car in the first three months of 2023 among sales on the Internet was the Volkswagen Passat (25,100 ads, average price $6,700). Skoda Octavia (20.1 thousand ads, average price $6,800) and Volkswagen Golf (19.1 thousand ads, average price $4,900) were also popular.
