The installation of HBO increased by 48%, and the share of electric vehicles turned out to be the maximum. Results of March

Experts of the Institute of Car Market Research determined how the shares of cars in terms of fuel among domestic resales, imports of used cars and sales of new cars changed in March, as well as the dynamics of installation of gas cylinder equipment. It turned out that in the first month of spring, two records were set at once: the largest share of electric cars and the largest number of conversions of cars to run on gas.

General dynamics of passenger car sales by fuel type

During March 2023, Ukrainians most often chose gasoline vehicles. 39.7% (44.9 thousand) of the total number of new and used vehicles — cars, trucks of all categories and buses — were purchased. If we add to them cars with installed HBO ( 17.8%, 20.1 thousand) and cars with hybrid engines ( 2.1%, 2.4 thousand), then gasoline cars will make up the absolute majority: 59.6% from the total number of sales.

The share of diesel cars was 37.1% (34.3 thousand). There were 0.4% of the total number (499 units) of machines equipped with an engine for working exclusively on gas fuel.

The share of electric cars was 2.8% (3.2 thousand) of the total number.

If compared with the previous month (February 2023), the share of diesel cars decreased slightly (from 37.8% to 37.1%); the share of gasoline cars increased minimally from 39.6% to 39.7%, as did the share of hybrid cars — from 1.9% to 2.1%. The share of LPG cars (17.8%) and " gas " cars (0.4%) remained unchanged. The share of electric cars increased from 2.5% to 2.8% and set a record.

Internal resales

Gasoline cars dominated the domestic market in March — 40% (35.4 thousand) of such deals were concluded; there were 21.8% of vehicles with a gas installation (19.3 thousand transactions). Diesel cars were in the minority: 35.1% (31.1 thousand deals).

Among all cars on the domestic market, only 1.3% were electric (1.1 thousand), 1.3% — hybrid (1.1 thousand) and 0.5% — exclusively gas (441 units).

In February, if we compare the indicators with the previous month, the share of diesel cars became slightly smaller (35.1% instead of 36.1%), gasoline cars — more (40% instead of 39.6%). The share of cars with hybrid engines (from 1.1% to 1.3%) and electric cars (from 1% to 1.3%) increased slightly. Instead, the shares of cars with HBO (21.8%) and gas engines (0.5%) and electric cars remained unchanged.

Import of used

Used vehicles with a diesel engine were most imported from abroad in March ( 47.3%, 8.9 thousand). The share of gasoline cars was 38.1% (7.2 thousand). However, if to this indicator we add the shares of cars with HBO ( 4.1%, 770 units) and hybrid vehicles( 2.2%, 416 units), which are actually gasoline, their total share will be 44.4%.

0.3% (58 units) of used gas vehicles were brought from abroad.

Electric cars with mileagelast month they were brought in 8% of cases (1.5 thousand). This is a new record for this market segment.

Compared to February 2023, the share of diesel cars increased in March (from 46.2% to 47.3%). The share of electric cars also increased — from 7.8% to 8%. The remaining types decreased their share: hybrids — from 2.4% to 2.2%, gas cars — from 0.4% to 0.3%.

New ones

New vehicles with gasoline engines became the most popular in March. Among all new cars registered for the first time, there were 41.1% of such cars (2.4 thousand units). 15.1% of cars (871 units) were registered with hybrid engines, and 0.7% (43 units) with a factory gas installation. Together, their share was 56.9%.

The share of diesel vehicles in new car sales was recorded at 33.3% (1.9 thousand). The share of electric cars was a record 9.8% (656 units).

Compared to February 2022, the number of gasoline cars decreased from 42.7% to 41.1%. The share of diesel cars also decreased from 34.2% to 33.3%. Instead, the shares of hybrid cars (from 13.3% to 15.1%) and electric cars (from 9.1% to 9.8%) increased. The share of vehicles with HBO has not changed(0.7%).

Dynamics of installation of HBO

During March, Ukrainians registered conversion of 3,100 cars to work on gas cylinder equipment. This is 47.6% more than in February 2023. That is, the activity of converting cars to run on gas increased significantly in the first month of spring.
