Experts of the Institute of Car Market Research analyzed the statistics of vehicle registrations in Ukraine in November and identified the top models in three segments of trucks weighing more than 3.5 tons (except semi-trailer trucks): import of used cars, domestic resale and purchase of new cars, including those converted in Ukraine .
Truck market dynamics
In November 2022, Ukrainians purchased more than 1,600 trucks with a gross weight of more than 3.5 tons (excluding tractors). This is -42% less than in the same period last year and 1.4% more than in October 2022.
Most of the trucks in November were purchased on the domestic market: 84.5% (1.4 thousand units). 8% of used trucks were brought from abroad (only 132 units).
Even fewer new trucks were purchased: 122 units ( 7.4% of the total number). Of them, 45 were imported, and 77 were converted in Ukraine. This is the largest number of sales of such cars since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
The most popular trucks in the domestic market
Mercedes-Benz T1/T2 trucks (80 deals) remain the leader of domestic resales in November. These cars have not been produced since the mid-90s of the last century, but their chassis are still used as a platform for various superstructures and are actively used on the roads.
In second place, as last month, is the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (61 deals), which is also used as a platform for add-ons. The third place was taken by Mercedes-Benz Atego (60 transactions), and the fourth place by Iveco Daily and its modifications(49 agreements). KamAZ 5320 closes the top five (48 deals).
The average age of trucks weighing more than 3.5 tons in November 2022 was 21.2 years.

The most popular used trucks brought from abroad
Few used trucks weighing more than 3.5 tons are usually brought from abroad. Current import tax rates make the import of such machines economically unprofitable or even impossible due to the Euro-5 environmental standard.
Since the number of imported models is insignificant, the monthly ratings differ significantly: a dozen imported cars completely change the entire rating.

It is impossible to form a high-quality list of the most popular models of new trucks weighing more than 3.5 tons due to the small number of sales. The November rating of brands shows the general situation on the market. The most popular imported new trucks were Scania (19 units). 4 pieces of imported DAF, MAN and Chinese XCMG trucks were purchased, 2 pieces each of Sinotruk, Fiat and Ford brands.
The main trend that can be identified in the sales of new trucks: imported Russian and Belarusian trucks have been replaced by Chinese manufacturers.
