Experts of the Institute of Car Market Research analyzed vehicle registration statistics, determined market dynamics and named the 20 most popular new passenger cars in November.
Dynamics of the new car market
In November, Ukrainians purchased almost 3,200 new cars. This is -64.7% less than last November 2021 and -0.7% less than September 2022. Taking into account the regular missile attacks on critical energy infrastructure by Russia and the interruptions in energy supply caused by them, such an indicator can be considered positive in the existing conditions: a general decrease in the economic level due to the war, changes in currency rates and a decrease in purchasing power. In general, it can be stated that the market of new cars has also stabilized, and its monthly volume can be estimated at 3-3.5 thousand cars.
The majority of new cars in November ( 88.2%, 2,785 units) were imported from abroad. The share of passenger cars manufactured in Ukraine by the method of large-unit assembly was 11.8% (371 units). This is the best indicator of sales of such cars since the beginning of the full-scale war.
The largest number of new cars in November were traditionally registered in Kyiv (928 units) and Kyiv region (436 units), as well as Dnipropetrovsk (322 units), Lviv (202 units) and Odesa (181 units) regions.
The fewest new cars were registered for the first time in Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson, Mykolaiv and Volyn regions. It is interesting that the Volyn region was also among the top 5 regions with the lowest sales of used cars on the domestic market.
The most popular new imported cars
Most often, in November, as well as in October, when buying a new car, Ukrainians chose the Toyota brand (678 units, 24.3%). Renault rose to second from third place (324 units, 11.6%).
Instead, KIA, which was in second place last month, dropped to 13th place (48 units, 1.7%).
The third place was taken by Mercedes-Benz (+1 position, 227 units, 8.2%), and the fourth place by Hyundai (+1 position, 216 units, 7.8%).
Rounding out the top 5 is the BMW brand, which rose from 7th place (177 units, 6.4%).
In November, Toyota RAV-4 remained the sales leader, whichpurchased 306 pieces. Renault Duster rose one step (278 units), taking second place. Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (+1 position, 181 units) came third in the rating.
Suzuki Vitara took the fourth place, rising sharply from 17th place (133 units). Rounding out the top five is the BMW X5 (+3 positions, 110 units).
The tendency of Ukrainians to choose crossovers and SUVs does not change: just like last month, the absolute majority of models among the new cars in November are just these. Only three of the top 20 most popular new cars are classic cars.

Among the new passenger cars assembled in Ukraine, Skoda cars were the most purchased in October (142 units in total): Kodiaq (81 units), Karoq (54 units), SuperB (6 units) and Octavia (1 unit).
