Experts from the Institute of Auto Market Research analyzed vehicle registration statistics in Ukraine and identified the most popular models in three segments of tractor units: imported used, domestic resale, and new.
Tractor unit market dynamics
During August 2025, Ukrainians purchased a total of 1,115 new and used tractor units. This figure is 40.5% lower compared to the results of the same period in 2024, but 2.1% higher compared to July of this year.
The structure of this segment is as follows: the share of domestic resales was 60.2% (671 units), imports of used tractor units — 33.5% (373 units).The total share of "trucks" with mileage was 93.6%.
6.4% of tractor units were purchased new, which in quantitative terms is equal to 71 units of such equipment.
By individual subsegments, the comparative dynamics of the tractor unit market looks like this:
- Domestic resales: +7.5% MM, −41.9% YY
- Used imports: −3.1% MM, −38.2% YY
- New imports: −14.5% MM, −38.8% YY
The most popular tractors on the domestic market
The most popular tractor unit on the domestic market in Ukraine is undoubtedly the DAF XF — one of the most popular models in its class. The manufacturer has focused on reliability and endurance, which is why the XF is valued among carriers as a reliable vehicle capable of covering long distances with minimal maintenance costs. The cabin is spacious and well-thought-out ergonomics, which is important for long-distance trips, and PACCAR engines combine power with moderate fuel consumption. A good ratio of price, resource and availability of spare parts makes the DAF XF the first choice on the secondary tractor market in Ukraine. 189 purchase and sale agreements were concluded for this model.
The second place in terms of quantity is occupied by MAN TGX, 109 units, the third by Volvo FH, 77 units.
The most popular used tractor units imported from abroad
Last month, the DAF XF also won the championship among the “advanced” tractors, which replenished our fleet in the amount of 112 units. In second place is the MAN TGX, whose total is 91 first registrations. In third place is the Volvo FH with a result of 40 newly arrived trucks.

The most popular new tractor units
Among the new models of tractor units, Ukrainian carriers most often purchased the Iveco S-Way — the car was sold in the amount of 15 units. This is the modern flagship of the Italian manufacturer, which replaced the Stralis in 2019. The model is distinguished by a new ergonomic cabin with an increased level of comfort and safety, improved aerodynamics that ensure fuel economy, and a wide range of electronic driver assistance systems. An important competitive advantage of the S-Way is the telematics platform with online monitoring of technical condition and an integrated voice assistant. In addition to diesel versions, natural gas modifications are also available, which significantly reduce emissions and the total cost of operation.
Second place in this category went to the Mercedes-Benz Actros with a total of 11 new vehicles. Third place went to the Volvo FH and MAN TGS, as they had the same number of first registrations — 7 vehicles each.
