February statistics on the semi-trailer market reflect structural changes in Ukrainian logistics. Despite the general decrease in activity compared to last year, individual sectors demonstrate dynamics that differ significantly from trends in the tractor segment. In total , 1,252 registration actions were recorded during the month, indicating a gradual recovery in demand for fleet renewal after the winter lull.
The main driver remains the domestic market — 758 transactions, although it showed the most significant annual drop of -22.6%. In contrast, the import and domestic production segments demonstrate a “recovery” in monthly dynamics. The purchase of used equipment increased by 26.6% compared to January, and registrations of new semi-trailers of foreign production jumped by 46.7%. Ukrainian production deserves special attention: despite small absolute figures, it grew by 57.1% compared to February last year, which indicates business confidence in local engineering solutions.
Internal market: focus on the agricultural sector and construction
In the domestic secondary market, the demand structure clearly corresponds to seasonal needs. The most popular type of semi-trailers remains dump trucks, which is a direct result of the preparation of agribusiness and construction companies for the active season. Tilted and flatbed models also hold a significant share, meeting the needs of general logistics.
The list of brands retains the absolute dominance of the German "big three". The undisputed leader remains the brand, the share of which is almost twice as high as that of the nearest competitor. Also, Turkish and Polish manufacturers of special equipment are holding steady in the domestic market, especially in the segments of tankers and semi-dump trucks. In general, this segment now looks like a process of washing out the old fleet, which is increasingly being replaced by imported resources.
Import of used equipment: work on highways
The segment of "freshly imported" semi-trailers from Europe is almost entirely focused on international transportation and long-haul logistics. The most popular types here are curtain-sided models ("curtains"), as well as refrigerators and container trucks. This indicates that carriers are preparing for the expansion of export operations, where the requirements for the technical condition of the trailer are critical.

In the import brand list, the dominance of the German leader is becoming even more noticeable — it occupies almost half of the entire segment. In addition to traditional players, February saw noticeable activity in niche areas, for example, in registrations of specialized semi-trailers-carriers. This indicates that Ukrainian logistics companies are starting to close highly specialized requests that require modern and reliable equipment.
New technology: competition between Ukrainian and European brands
The market for new semi-trailers in February became an arena for an interesting confrontation. Despite the leadership of a foreign premium brand, Ukrainian manufacturers successfully maintain their positions, especially in the segments of heavy and specialized equipment. The demand for new platforms and isothermal vans indicates that business is ready to invest in assets with maximum service life.
In the top ten leaders of new registrations, we see a confident presence of domestic enterprises that manufacture low-frame trawls, tankers and dump trucks. This confirms that in the special equipment segment, local manufacturers have learned to offer a product that is not inferior in characteristics to European counterparts, but is more profitable in cost. The positive annual dynamics of production within the country is one of the few real indicators of the development of the industrial sector.
Conclusion
The semi-trailer market in February 2026 demonstrated a change in the strategy of carriers: from quantitative accumulation of equipment to its qualitative specialization. Although domestic resales fell by a quarter compared to last year, the growth in imports of used equipment by 26% and new production in Ukraine by 57% per month indicates that the market has not stagnated. Carriers are selectively updating the fleet with precisely those types of equipment that will bring profit in the new season, ignoring universal but old solutions.
