Gas for cars: Which cars got gasohol in July?

The main reason why car owners decide to install LPG equipment (LPG) is the desire to reduce fuel costs. True, the times when propane-butane at gas stations cost half as much as gasoline are already in the past (unless you compare the price of LPG to premium grades such as A-100). However, some savings on gas fuel are still possible.

Analysts of the Institute for Automotive Market Research studied the statistics of passenger car conversions to "gas" in July 2025, and are ready to share the results of this study.

In total, during the past month, HBO officially appeared (only those facts of conversion registered by the service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are taken into account) on 1,229 passenger cars. This is 16.8% more than in June 2025, but significantly less, by 41.8%, than a year ago, in July 2024.

  • Here is what the dynamics look like by month:

About fuel: This year began with price tags at gas stations in the "gas" window at about 35 UAH/l. However, the price then rose rapidly, as new excise duty rates came into effect, and drivers were buying a propane-butane mixture for an average of 37 UAH/l. After the winter peak, the retail price of LPG gradually decreased, and is now about 34.4 UAH/l.

Among the brands that most often featured gas-powered equipment, Toyota is number one on the list. This manufacturer is in no hurry to take its place among electric vehicles, to modernize its time-tested internal combustion engines (as well as many other structural elements of its cars), so among the models of this Japanese manufacturer there are still many options with engines without direct gasoline injection and turbocharging, on which it is easy to install LPG, as in the 80s of the last century. Also at the top of the list are Jepp, Hyundai, Nissan — mostly versions coming from the USA, and also equipped with "atmospheric" engines. But VAZ, which once led this rating together with ZAZ/Daewoo products, will soon leave the top ten — there are fewer and fewer of them in circulation, and the fleet, fortunately, is no longer replenished with such ones.

Also this time, our experts decided to determine the average age of individual brands that were converted to work on a gas mixture, and here is the picture they got:

  • Jeep — 7 (years, average age)
  • Toyota — 12
  • Nissan — 12
  • Ford — 12
  • Mitsubishi i — 14
  • Hyundai — 14
  • Renault — 16
  • Volkswagen — 17
  • Skoda — 18
  • VAZ — 25

Among individual models, the Nissan Rogue took the lead — a typical "American" with a "naturally" engine, as did a number of other models that made it onto the slide. In general, the "Americans" here are diluted by the Skoda Octavia (earlier versions, with MPI family engines), as well as the Volkswagen Golf and Renault Megane, and about half of the "Passats" that did not arrive in our country from overseas.
