What are the most popular passenger cars in the domestic market? Top 10 brands and models of June 2025

In the domestic market, during June 2025, service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs registered 71.3 thousand transactions for the purchase and sale of used cars. This is 12.9% less than in May 2025, and 27.5% less than in June 2024.

The domestic market volumes in the diagram are shown in the upper (blue) part of the columns, and in the lower (orange) part — the volumes of imports of used cars, which we will later consider in a separate publication.

Dynamics of the secondary passenger car market, 2024-2025

In June, Volkswagen retained its leadership in the domestic resale market by a significant margin, outpacing its closest competitor by almost two times. This demonstrates the enduring trust in the brand, which is valued for its reliability, simplicity, and good maintainability.

Next in the top ten are BMW, Renault, VAZ and Skoda, which are almost equal in terms of volume, but are focused on different target groups: from fans of dynamics and image to pragmatic drivers. The list is completed by Audi, Toyota, Ford, Mercedes-Benz and Hyundai — consistently popular brands that cover the needs of different segments: from budget to premium, from gasoline to hybrids.

Among the models with mileage, the Volkswagen Passat was once again the most popular in June — it significantly outpaced the rest of the rating participants, especially due to the diesel variants, which are traditionally considered hardy and convenient for long trips. Only slightly behind was the Skoda Octavia, which maintains a strong position due to its affordability, roominess and versatility.

On the third line — Volkswagen Golf, especially popular in cities. In the second five — Daewoo Lanos and Renault Megane, which continue to remain popular as budget solutions for everyday use. Closing the top ten are BMW 5- and 3-series, Ford Focus, Audi A6 and A4 — this is the choice of those looking for a balance between comfort, image and residual value.

The average age of cars on the secondary market remained almost unchanged last month, at 15.7 years.

As always, we will finish by counting the premium segment cars. So, in May of this year, the following number of new owners for not-quite-new cars of this group were found on the domestic market: 1 McLaren, 1 Lamborghini, 2 Maybach, 3 Aston Martin, 6 Bentley, 7 Rolls-Royce and 13 Maserati.

The passenger car of the most respectable age was the 1950 GAZ-20, a black sedan with a 4.4-liter engine.
