Top 10 "freshly launched" electric cars — results of May 2025

“Prygon” is the basis of the electric car market in Ukraine. This word, familiar to motorists, refers to the import of used cars, even when the car is not actually “driven” but is transported by sea or delivered by a car carrier.

Here are the numbers that prove it: the share of "freshly driven" cars among all electric cars on the market as of May 2025 was 53.5%, that is, more than half, and, accordingly, more than the other two segments combined — sales of new cars and domestic resales of used electric cars.

In total, during the last month of this year, the Ukrainian car fleet was replenished with 4,836 BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) passenger cars with mileage.

The dynamics of this part of the car market are as follows: plus 39% compared to the volumes of May 2024, and plus 0.7% compared to April 2025.

We remind you that 2025 is the last year when customs clearance privileges for electric vehicles are in effect. We predict an increase in import volumes this year, and it is also possible that queues will appear for them and prices will rise. So you should buy now, before everything just mentioned starts in full force.

Which electric cars were most often ordered, and accordingly "brought" from abroad in May?

Tesla remains the leader here with the largest number of imported cars — 1,261 cars. This brand is associated with high technology, significant range and status, which makes Tesla the most popular choice among buyers looking for a modern and reliable electric car, and statistics confirm that buyers have already separated the brand from the image of its frontman Elon Musk. Second place is firmly held by Nissan with 587 cars — a classic in the segment of affordable and practical electric cars, in particular the Leaf models, which have already proven their effectiveness on the roads.

Next come Korean manufacturers KIA (472) and Hyundai (442), which offer crossovers and hatchbacks that are balanced in price and characteristics, and have received recognition for comfort and durability. Volkswagen (367), Audi (265), Renault (256), and Chevrolet (226) occupy middle positions, offering a wide range of models from compact city cars to premium electric cars. Mercedes-Benz (143) and BMW (139) complete the ranking, representing the premium segment.

Among individual models, the Tesla Model Y confidently leads the ranking with 546 imported cars, demonstrating stable demand for modern electric crossovers with a long range and advanced technologies. It is followed by the Nissan Leaf with 518 cars — a classic in the segment of affordable BEVs with mileage, which, thanks to its reliability and prevalence, is in well-deserved demand. The Tesla Model 3 also maintains a high position with 467 new arrivals.

The top also features the KIA Niro and Hyundai Kona, popular electric crossovers that offer comfort and practicality at a relatively affordable price. The Chevrolet Bolt EV, Volkswagen e-Golf and Renault ZOE complete the list, providing choice in the compact and city electric car segment. The Tesla Model S, with 181 imported cars, remains a premium option (or an affordable alternative to compacts — if we talk about early versions with an oval in the front), and the Hyundai Ioniq closes the top ten, showing that the used electric car market in Ukraine is diverse and well balanced between classes, body types and price groups.

The average age of electric cars arriving to us last month was 5 years — the lowest value of all segments of our used car market.
