The calculations below are based on an analysis of the real sector of the car market. The team of the Car Market Research Institute analyzed almost 3 million records of the aggregator Automoto.ua about car sales announcements from all (about 100) Ukrainian car sites.
Given that prices in advertisements are directly dependent on the principle of market equilibrium (i.e. when the sellerʼs request must meet the buyerʼs expectations so that the goods are sold within a reasonable time), as well as the fact that these same prices are formed under the influence of a number of external factors, they can be used for market analytics as indicator values that demonstrate or explain the state of affairs at a certain moment, or explain the impact of external factors on the market. Possession of such information allows business analysts to identify trends and forecast the state of the market for the future, plan activities taking into account historical and current information for future periods.

Online market for used cars: more and more ads
Over the past 12 months, almost 2.6 million offers for the sale of used cars were posted on Ukrainian online vehicle classifieds. This number includes only newly added ads, excluding duplicates that may appear on multiple bulletin boards.
The highest seller activity during the mentioned period was recorded in May 2024, when 248.3 thousand ads were placed. The lowest activity during this period was observed in December of last year — 177.7 thousand ads.
The number of newly created ads has increased slightly :from 213.8 thousand in April to 218.3 thousand in May (+2.1%). In a year-on-year comparison, the picture is as follows: in May 2024, online platforms published 248.3 thousand fresh offers, so they are now offering 12.1% less.
The potential financial value of all cars offered (or being offered) for sale in May was $2.1 billion, which is close to the average.
The maximum and minimum volume of offers in monetary terms is largely correlated with the number of ads indicated above, which is visible in the diagram. On average, Ukrainians offer $2 billion worth of used cars for sale online every month.

Price structure: the share of more expensive cars continues to grow
In May 2025, the Ukrainian used car market saw the largest concentration of ads in the budget segment — from $1,000 to $2,000 (10.4%) and from $2,000 to $3,000 (9%). There was also noticeable activity in the $3,000...$6,000 range, where more than a quarter of all ads were concentrated.
At the same time, the premium segment ($20,000+) also shows growth — plus 1.1% and a share of 9.4% of the total, which may indicate an increase in the supply of newer cars from Europe or the USA. In the mid-price ranges ($7,000...$15,000) there is a gradual decrease in the share.
Average price in segments (by fuel/food)
In terms of individual segments, with a breakdown by type of power plant, the lowest average price, which according to the results of March is $2,550 (-$150), is for cars with gas-powered equipment.
The most popular segment on the market is gasoline cars, occupying a middle position between the just described cars with LPG and diesel cars. The current average price of all offers here is $5,950, $50 less than it was a month earlier.
Used diesel cars are currently asking an average of $7,400, $200 more than a month earlier.
The volatile segment of cars with hybrid powertrains (all subtypes such as MHEV/HEV/PHEV) was recorded at $13,000 in May, which is $900 less than it was previously. It should be remembered that the share of "hybrids" in the secondary market is relatively small (about 1.2%), so prices here fluctuate much more than elsewhere.
About the electric car segment: the total price of used cars in sales offers is now $16,000, $100 more than in the previous cut. And there is every reason to believe that it will only get more expensive here — some dealers have already slowed down sales, counting on the fact that in a few months this downtime will pay off with the automatic increase in the cost of electric cars before the VAT refund on them.
