Experts from the Institute for Automotive Market Research analyzed vehicle registration statistics in Ukraine in the first quarter of 2025 and identified the most popular models in three bus segments: used import, domestic resale, and new purchase.
Bus market dynamics
During the first three months of 2025, Ukrainian carriers purchased 1,433 new and used buses. This is a total of 35.1% less than the volumes of the first quarter of 2024.
By individual subsegments, the dynamics of bus sales in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the first quarter of 2024 is as follows:
- Domestic resales: −46.6%
- Imports of used cars: +27.2%
- New imports: +105.6%
- Made in Ukraine: −16.8%
Most of the buses were purchased on the domestic market : 952 units, which amounted to 66.4% of the total.
17% of used buses, or 243 units, were brought from abroad.
Also at the beginning of the year, 238 new buses were registered for the first time: 164 of these were manufactured or re-equipped in Ukraine ( 11.4% ), the remaining 74 units (5.2%) arrived from abroad.
The most popular buses on the domestic market
The leader in domestic resales remains buses based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, with 272 units purchased. A significant portion of these vehicles were converted into passenger buses from trucks at one time.
In second place is the Etalon A079 base.with a result of 88 cars. In third place is the Volkswagen LT(41 pcs.).
The most popular used buses imported from abroad
In the 1st quarter of 2025, buses based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (61 units) also took the lead in this subsegment.
Second place went to the Dutch VDL Ambassador buses, 53 of which arrived. Third place went to cars based on the Volkswagen Crafter (17 units).

The most popular new buses
The Ford Transit took first place in the subsegment of new passenger vehicles with a total of 61 first registrations.
Second in this ranking is Ataman A-093, with a total of 46 vehicles sold. Third place went to BAZ A081 "Etalon" buses, with 45 registrations.
