What are the most popular passenger cars in the domestic market? Top 10 brands and models of the 1st quarter of 2025
In the domestic market, during the first quarter of 2025, the service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs registered almost 213 thousand transactions for the purchase and sale of used cars. This is 17.5% less compared to the results of the first quarter of last year.
After a statistical "drawdown" in December-January, caused by a cyberattack on state registries that led to the suspension of vehicle re-registration services, the chart shows how the number of official transactions increased in February, and in March the indicators returned to values close to the average.
The domestic market volumes in the diagram are shown in the upper (orange) part of the columns, and the lower (blue) part shows the volumes of imports of used cars, which we will consider in a separate publication.
What brands did Ukrainians prefer more often? As in previous periods, the "popular" brand — Volkswagen - confidently leads, with a share of 21.4% in the first quarter of the year, which is significantly higher than that of the brands that were located after it on the list. The second place, with a minimal quantitative lead over BMW, was taken by the Skoda brand. With a difference of literally a few cars, BMW is in third place. Renault is also not far behind, but VAZ, which was in third place at the end of the year, immediately moved to fifth.
The Volkswagen Passat remains the leader in the list of models — it would be strange if this place went to some other brand, because every month the Passat proudly looked down on other participants in the rating all last year. Also, high demand remained for the Skoda Octavia and Volkswagen Golf.
The average age of cars on the secondary market decreased slightly in the first quarter of 2025, from 16.3 years to 15.8 years.
Finally, letʼs count the premium segment cars. So, in the first 3 months of this year , 768 Porsches, 41 Maserati, 29 Bentleys, 15 Rolls-Royces, 5 Aston Martins, 4 Maybachs, 3 Ferraris, and 2 Lamborghinis were resold on the domestic market.
The cars of the most respectable age were: BMW 340 from 1937, Steyr 220 from 1938, and its peer Mercedes-Benz 170V.
