Experts from the Institute for Automotive Market Research analyzed vehicle registration statistics in Ukraine in 2024 and identified the most popular models in three bus segments: used import, domestic resale, and new purchase.
Bus market dynamics
During 2024, Ukrainian carriers purchased 8,080 new and used buses. This is 13.4% less than in 2023.
By individual subsegments, the dynamics of bus sales, compared to 2023, is as follows:
- Domestic resales: −13.0%
- Imports of used cars: −15.5%
- New imports: +51.2%
- Made in Ukraine: −21.9%
Most of the buses were purchased on the domestic market : 6,231 units, which amounted to 77.1% of the total.
10.2% of used buses, or 826 units, were brought from abroad.
Also last year, 1,023 new buses were registered for the first time: 834 of these were manufactured or re-equipped in Ukraine ( 10.3% ), the remaining 189 units (2.3%) arrived from abroad.
The most popular buses on the domestic market
The leader in domestic resales remains buses based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, with 1,855 units purchased. A significant portion of these vehicles were converted into passenger buses from trucks at one time.
In second place is the Etalon A079 base.with a result of 520 cars. In third place is "Bogdan" A-092(431 pcs.).
The most popular used buses imported from abroad
In 2024, buses based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (161 units) took the lead in this subsegment.
Second place was taken by Mercedes-Benz Citaro (64 units), third by Dutch VDL Ambassador buses, 57 of which arrived.

The most popular new buses
The first place in the subsegment of new passenger vehicles was taken by the BAZ A081 "Etalon" with a total of 251 first registrations.
Second in this ranking is Bogdan/Ataman A-093, with a total of 195 vehicles sold. Third place went to buses based on the Ford Transit, with 140 registrations.
