Experts from the Institute of Automotive Market Research analyzed vehicle registration statistics in Ukraine in 2024 and identified the most popular models in three segments of tractor units: used imports, domestic resales, and new purchases.
Tractor unit market dynamics
During 2024, Ukrainians purchased a total of 23.5 thousand new and used tractor units. This figure is 32.9% lower compared to the results of 2023.
The structure of this segment is as follows: the share of domestic resales was 57.5% (13.5 thousand), imports of used tractor units — 35.7% (8.4 thousand).The total share of "trucks" with mileage was 93.2%.
6.8% of tractor units were purchased new, which in quantitative terms is equal to 1,599 units of such equipment.
By individual subsegments, the dynamics of the tractor unit market in 2024 compared to 2023 are as follows:
- Domestic resales: −19.0%
- Imports of used cars: −48.4%
- New imports: −23.9%
The most popular tractors on the domestic market
The most popular tractor unit on the domestic market in Ukraine is the DAF XF. 3,970 sales contracts for this model were concluded.
The second place in terms of quantity is occupied by MAN TGX, 1,761 units, the third by Volvo FH, 1,591 units.
The most popular used tractor units imported from abroad
Last year, the first place among the "customized" tractors was taken by the MAN TGX, which replenished our fleet in the amount of 2,301 units. In second place is the DAF XF, whose total number of first registrations is 2,290. In third place is the Volvo FH with a result of 1,172 trucks.

The most popular new tractor units
Among the new models of tractor units, Ukrainian carriers most often purchased Scania R-Series —This tractor was sold in a quantity of 502 units.
Second place in this category was taken by the Volvo FH with a total of 354 new vehicles. Third place went to the MAN TGX with a total of 288 tractor units.
Since the summer of last year, the tractor segment has seen a steady decline in volumes in all subsegments — none of them has a positive dynamics. The import of such vehicles has fallen the most (almost twice) — the pace of replenishing the fleet with essentially strategic vehicles for the economy has dropped to a record low. There has been little progress in replenishing the fleet with new trucks. At the same time, taking into account the average age of semi-trailers on the domestic market, which is 16.5 years, and the average age of imported used tractors (10 years), given the trends just mentioned, one should prepare for a further decrease in the average age of tractors in Ukraine.
