"Prygon" is the basis of the electric car segment in Ukraine. This word, familiar to motorists, refers to the import of used cars, even when in reality the car is not "driven", but transported by sea or delivered by truck. Here are the numbers that prove it: the share of "freshly driven" cars among all electric cars on the market in September amounted to 48.5%, that is, almost half, and more than other sub-segments — sales of new and domestic resales of electric cars with mileage.
In general, in September, the Ukrainian car fleet was replenished with 3,213 cars of the BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) group with mileage.
The dynamics of this part of the car market looks like this: "slump" relative to September of the current year — minus 12%, growth compared to October 2023 — plus 1.1%.

Which electric cars were most often ordered and, accordingly, "driven" last month? Letʼs start with an overview of the manufacturer rating, where Tesla is the undisputed leader. It seems that someone will appear soon who can compete with several "Models" of this American manufacturer. Nissan is currently holding on thanks to two generations of Leaf, and hopes for the success of the Ariya crossover, but the competition in the e-SUV group is much tougher than it was when the first generation Leaf appeared in the environment of compact hatchbacks, where it actually had no one to compete with.
Among the individual models that most often replenished the Ukrainian car fleet, the Nissan Leaf is still in the lead, which from time to time exchanged the first place with the Tesla Model 3, and for a certain period there was a possibility that the Model Y also had certain plans for the first step. However, a different story happened with the Leaf: thanks to the low starting price for the early releases of this model, it received a "second wind", that is, it is bought as a second car for everyday use, in order to save on fuel, while not getting rid of the "main" gasoline or diesel car.
The result of replenishment of the fleet with electric vehicles with mileage (3.2 thousand) is somewhat lower than the average statistical value for the past 12 months, which is 3.5 thousand/month. At the same time, the total volume of the electric vehicle market remains stable, with a slight increase. This is influenced by the development of the domestic market, in which a sufficient offer has been formed over the past years, which is able to satisfy the demand of buyers who switch from a car with an internal combustion engine to an electric one, and at the same time do not want to wait several months for a car from the USA or even weeks from Europe.
At the same time, it should be remembered that buying an electric car abroad is currently the most profitable of all options, since they are subject to almost "zero" customs clearance. Which will cease to operate (if there are no changes in the legislation, and so far no initiatives have been announced in this regard, and the economic situation in the country does not favor the continuation of benefits) on January 1, 2026. Then the share of the domestic market can grow and outweigh the share of imports.
