Experts of the Institute of Car Market Research analyzed the statistics of vehicle registrations in Ukraine and identified the most popular models in three segments of trucks weighing more than 3.5 tons (except tractor-trailers) : used import, domestic resale and purchase of new cars, including those converted in Ukraine.
Truck market dynamics
The volume of the market of trucks with a gross weight of more than 3,500 kg in August amounted to 2,200 units. This segment of the Ukrainian car market is gradually losing momentum: the given total indicator is 5.4% less compared to July of the current year, and a quarter less (25%) compared to August 2023.
The structure of this segment is as follows: 73.9% (1675 units) — domestic resales, 10.5% (239 units) — import of used trucks, 4.1% — import of new ones, 11.5% — sales of manufactured (or converted in factory conditions) in Ukraine. The total share of new machines of this group is 15.6%.
The dynamics of individual sub-segments, the shares of which have just been given, are as follows (MM — the reporting month compared to the previous month; YY — the reporting month compared to the same month last year):
- Domestic resales: -15% MM, -35% YY
- Used imports: +47% MM, +7% YY
- New imports: +79% MM, +55% YY
- Made in Ukraine: +29% MM, +71% YY
Top 10 trucks on the domestic market
Dump trucks remain the most popular type in this sub-segment, while vans and on-board versions also remain in demand.
Among individual models , Mercedes-Benz Atego took first place, another car from the same manufacturer — Sprinter — took second place, and KamAZ 5511 came third (probably due to the intensification of agricultural work).

Vans with hydroboards, vans, and container trucks were most often added to the Ukrainian fleet last month.

The top three newly arrived trucks look like this: Mercedes-Benz Sprinter in first place, Mercedes-Benz Atego in second place, and Iveco Daily in third place.

Among new trucks with a gross weight of more than 3.5 tons, the highest demand was observed for dump trucks and vans. Other types (e.g. garbage trucks or mobile cranes) were purchased individually.
Among individual models, the products of the local automotive industry are leading, or rather chassis converted by local enterprises or entire cars for special tasks.
