The LCV (light commercial vehicle) has a number of advantages that make it useful for business and everyday use. Thanks to their economy, cars of this family provide better fuel efficiency compared to larger trucks, which reduces operating costs. Compact dimensions allow easy maneuvering in urban conditions, especially in dense traffic. At the same time, they have sufficient capacity to transport goods, which makes them ideal for small and medium-sized businesses. Cargo and passenger versions are also noted for their versatility, as they can be used for both commercial and personal needs.
Specialists of the Institute of Car Market Research determined the dynamics of sales in this segment, as well as the most popular types and models for each of the groups. Letʼs start with the total volume of trades. During August, a total of 5,500 LCV vehicles were purchased. Compared to previous periods, this volume looks as follows (MM-M — compared to July 2024, YY compared to August 2023):
- Domestic resales: -19% MM, -14% YY
- Used imports: +31.8% MM, +13.3% YY
- New imports: +21.6% MM, +24.4% YY
- Made in Ukraine: +1.8% MM, -15% YY
The diagram shows how after the peak in May, which was caused by a change in the rules for mobilizing transport from private owners, who massively reissued it then to other persons, the volume of trades returned to average statistical values. That is, now we can say that we are finally dealing with real market indicators, with a minimal interspersion of "rewrites" of cars.
The structure of the segment is as follows: the largest share, which is 69.5%, is for domestic resales; 21.3% are imported used light trucks, 8.1% are new imported trucks, 1% are manufactured or converted in Ukraine. The total share of new cars is 9.1%. Based on the share of each of the sub-segments, we will consider them in detail in the same order.
