The world market of new cars is experiencing a crisis caused by downtime of factories of world concerns due to lack of components. According to foreign and domestic car dealers, the market has already formed a deficit: demand exceeds supply. The waiting time for cars in salons has significantly increased, some models are generally temporarily unavailable for purchase. Since most of the new cars sold in Ukraine are imported from abroad, global trends affect our market as well.
In general, in October 2021 in the primary market Ukrainians bought 8,186 pieces. new cars. Of the total number of new cars, the first registrations of imported cars amounted to 89% (7.3 thousand units), 11% (0.9 thousand cars) — the first registrations of cars manufactured in Ukraine.
Compared to September 2021, the total volume of the primary market decreased by 11.6%. Ukrainians bought 1,664 new cars less than last month. Compared to October 2020, the total volume of the primary market decreased by 5.4%.
In October 2021, the majority (68%) of imported cars were purchased by individuals. Legal entities (firms) bought 32% of such cars, respectively. With cars made in Ukraine, the situation is the opposite: 60% bought companies, individuals — 40%.
The most popular models in the primary market
In October 2021, the KIA Sportage (463 units) retained the lead among new cars in the primary market.
Renault Duster (345 units) went up two steps, while Toyota RAV-4 (309 units), Renault Sandero (258 units), Mitsubishi Outlander (199 units) and Renault Logan (152 units) dropped one point. .
Mitsubishi Outlander (minus 2 positions) and Renault Logan (minus 3 positions) also dropped into the top 10. Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (185 units) lost the most positions — by 4 points at once.
Chery Tiggo 4 (244 units) appeared on the fifth step. Ukrainians could more often choose models of the Chinese car industry, including due to the unavailability of Western brands. Another "new" model in the top 10 October — Suzuki SX-4 (212 pcs.) In eighth place.
Toyota Camry (230 units) retained its position in sixth place.

The most popular models made in Ukraine
Once again, the first place in the ranking of the most popular new cars made in Ukraine is occupied by a specialized car. This time it is a police Toyota Corolla, re-equipped by a Ukrainian company for imported cars. Also in the ranking are medical Volkswagen Crafter (38 pcs.) And Peugeot Boxer (32 pcs.).
The most popular "civilian" new car "made in Ukraine" in October 2021 was Skoda Karoq (140 registered cars), which added in October as many as 5 points in the ranking. Another car of this brand — Skoda Kodiaq (38 pcs.) — fell five positions down. Cars of this brand in Ukraine are manufactured by PJSC "Eurocar" from imported European car kits.
The rest of the items are occupied by the products of the Zaporizhia Automobile Plant. These are cars made from imported car kits originating in the Russian Federation. "Domestic" Kia Rio (51 pcs.) Went up four steps, and Kia Rio X-Line (105 pcs.) — two. Renault Arkana (48 units) and Lada Vesta (55 units) also added two positions each.
According to the results of October, Lada Niva (47 units) appeared on the 7th place in the rating, while Lada Granta left this monthʼs top-10.

Interestingly, during October, 36% of the total number of new cars manufactured in Ukraine were specialized vehicles for ambulance services and police. 64% of new Ukrainian general-purpose cars were registered in October (593 units).
